old fart nirvana

#1 Post by Aladinsaneuk » Fri Oct 16, 2009 4:03 pm

been browsing through itunes store as i had a few quid on the account

just downloaded three old games for the iphone - "Beneath a Steel Sky" "Simon the sorcerer 2" and "dungeon hunter" a diablo clone...

nice thing is that each was 3 quid - and play well - happy chap :)

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

You can tell winter's coming - too much time on his hands

In that case, Paddy, have a look at 'Oolite' - it's a modern rewrite of the old Archimedes Elite.

<misty eyed>
Elite. I spent far, far too many hours playing that on my Sinclair Spectrum.
It's the V-twin thing. There's just something about it that inline-4s don't have at all, and V-4s don't have enough of.

Damn, I used to play Manic Miner on my ZX Spectrum, but that was sooooooo long ago I can only just remember it. However, the very instant I read those posts the really really annoying music popped into my head and now I fear I might harm myself and others as I'm gradually losing my reason - BASTAAARDS

I've still got my spectrum - bought it while I was a student - it was about the cheapest machine I could get to write Z80 code for my final year project.

Guess I've still got a geed few cassettes with games on too.

No mate, that means you're dead.

Ligs, you're old, get used to it and move on. :smt016

Between you and me Dale, I think Firestarter is trying to sweet-talk Ligs with these attempts at comforting flattery.

Oolite is what i am playing right now. I am travelling to the space station waiting for the ships to dissapear into the distance so i can jump drive. Can't wait to get enough money for an ecm and a beam laser.

Manic Miner!

I bought a ZX Spectrum cos I thought the kids really ought to have a computer, I was a really skint single parent at the time and it was the best we could afford even with the awful touch-pad 'keyboard'. I guess I was right to get it cos my older daughter grew up to become a programmer!

We had a 'poke' for Manic Miner that gave us 300 lives instead of 3 or 30 or whatever it originally had, we loved it!
The tragedy of old age is not that one is old, but that one is young.
