The indicators!

#1 Post by Zadix » Thu Feb 15, 2007 7:27 am

Hello :smt006

The indicators have finally arrived! Took about a week and a half, and that`s with moneytransfer and delivery - not that bad!

The quality? :smt002 (the indicators

Well, pictures will be posted later this evening. Bur my first impression is:
- The bulb was only 8watts (not 10 as promised) so they have to be changed or they will just glow.
-Quite long, but I dont think it will look strange
-Quality is ok, you get what you pay for. Dont think they will be that much waterproof...(no real sealing)
-Good thing is that you can remove tha amber colored lens in them to get them all clear, nice!

Thats it for now, will get pictures tonight.
Take care!

I had the same thoughts as you and bought Mille indicators with clear lenses to replace the butt-ugly originals. The result was that they looked like they'd been fitted as standard and they used the original mounting points perfectly and IMHO they look excellent...........it baffles me why everyone else doesn't change their indicators, the originals were a design afterthought.

Hope they last better than the aftermarket lights I bought from "Busters" One long fast blat and the vibration killed them, the lens shattered around the fixing screws and bulbs fell out never to be seen again :smt012

TwinNut I didn't realise yours were stock Mille indicators. I agree they look much better and without the hassle of fast/slow blinking I guess.

Yep, they were the first thing I bought for the bike about two years ago. I got them from Speedaway (I think, very helpful though) for about £15/pair, which I was amazed at, and I think they also come off the latest RS125......whatever that is :smt017....so I just fitted 'em and they work, no rave indicators for me.

They're not the same ones, I'm not even sure if they're original Aprilia. The lenses are a different shape to mine and the mounting doesn't have any ribs in it like the ebay ones do. Mine were definitely OE as they came in sealed Aprilia logo'd bags.......at least I was told they were OE :smt017 Photo's just taken in a dark garage (and of a mucky bike)

Those are the same as danowat has ordered.... :smt023

Excuse the crappy pictures, i took em with my phone. But atleast you get to se a hint of what it will look like... :smt003

First is the difference with and without the amber lens...
Image

One done, three to go..(or not, this one is just a test...need to redo the wiring.. :smt112 )

w/wo the amber lens, if not using the lens I need to find an ambercolored 12v/10w bulb, dont want them to flash all clearwhite...

Thats it for now, will fix better pics when the bike is more complete.

//fixed the pictures..

//and before anyone even gets the chance of noticing that the garage floor is pink....well, all I can say that this isn`t my garage, it`s my mother-in-laws...she so kindly lets me keep the bike there over winter! :smt003 and she kinda likes pink... :smt107

I beg to differ but they're not the same. At the expense of being pedantic one lens is totally smooth and clear, the other has criss-cross markings and a finish on it. One lens is short, stubby and deep dished, the other is a more elongated oval and shallow dished. Also one has a short stem with ribs the other stem is smooth and slightly longer. These 'ribs' make the indicator sag a little as can be seen on your bike. The smooth ones don't sag at all.

Apologies if this seems a bit anal but if a points worth making it's worth being accurate.

Hmm, no..these are the same as danowat linked to in his post (same Ebaylink from wich I bought mine). But they are not the same as yours, if that`s what you thought I meant?

About the flexing arm and the sag, that wont happen. The flexing arm is not at all flexy, very stiff. Just looks flexy... :smt003 The sag in one of the pictures is due to that I havent tightened them yet, need new nuts...I didn`t have the right size :smt002
