Could do with some pointers here, please . . .
The Futura seems to have caught the bike form of Swine Flu.
Turns over and starts fine when cold; idles fine; runs fine until properly hot.
After running for some time, i.e thoroughly warmed up, it splutters/misses at low revs, say, up to 2,500 - 3,000. Picks up when throttle is opened further. Sounds/feels like it's mis-firing on one cylinder.
Symptoms worsen the longer the bike is ridden.
Heavier fuel consumption. Mates following me say they can smell unburnt fuel.
Had this problem for a couple of months, steadily getting worse.
Bike was serviced by Griff in Spring - fuelling re-set, latest Aprilia map re-installed.
Non-standard exhaust (Staintunes + H-pipe) fitted; bike was serviced with this fitted.
When I first experienced this, I assumed it was due to water in the electrics, having just cleaned & hosed the bike thoroughly.
There are no warning signs from the dash.
I've been thinking it could be a coil problem; symptoms are at least superficially similar to those experienced on old BSAs with failing coils many years ago.
I'd be grateful for any suggestions that could point me in the right direction; I'm not that familiar with fuel injection systems, so I could be missing something to do with fuelling.
Thanks

Yes - sounds ignition related .... coils, plugs etc are on the suspects list.fastasfcuk wrote:no i think your on the right track, coils tend to break down as they get hotter.if you know which cyl acting up swap the coils over and see if the problem follows the coil.if your mates are smelling unburnt fuel then it's getting there.
