tank bag attachment thing

#1 Post by LEEMAN » Wed Sep 16, 2009 2:29 pm

Newbie and first post.
Have just purchased my Falco, a beautifull 04 model in mint condition, 11k on the clock and the real beauty - full aprilia luggage. Im loving it, had it for 2 weeks and I cant stop riding the damn thing. First and previous bike was GS Adventure 1150, so this is quite far removed from the agriculural machine im used to, but already I feel at home on my new mode of transport.
One tiny issue, well 2 actually:
My luggage which as you know will double as a tank bag, seems to be missing one vital component : the attachment to the centre of the yoke. Im sure i could fashion something but if anyone knows of any parts or has a spare, then let me know.
Of course the other potential issue is the side stand, seems ok at the moment but after reading all the comments on here im thinking of replacing the standard one attached.

Newbie out

call the rocket centre in blackpool - i got one off them

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

welcome to the world of the Falco, a very different ride to the beemer. I feel sure you will adapt though. Cant comment on luggage thingy but get the sidestand changed asap as I`ve said before there are two kinds of Falco, those that have fallen off their sidestand, and those that are going to fall off their sidestand.

Best bang for buck upgrade is a 15 tooth front sprocket lowers the overall gearing a bit and makes the bike much easier in town. Others will be along soon with many other devious ways to spend your hard earned.

Hi Leeman - welcome to the site!

Red & Black or Sludge & Black? :smt002 Or the ultra-rare Green & Black?

If you've already searched the site, you'll have found there's plenty of options for the side-stand, everyone advocating something different! I've got the GSX-R stand, removed the side-stand switch as a result but I'm OK with that. There are some straight bolt-on options (which if I hadn't already changed, I'd probably take a look at) which keep the switch. Probably the favourite is the US stand, still requires some hacksawing, but probably the best option overall.

Where abouts you hailing from?

Its Red and black and with some nice GPR cans attached. Im hailing from sunny Bristol.
Thanks to all three for the reply, ill check out the Rocket Centre in Blackpool, have had a quote also from Gary Hastings for his side stand too. Is there a definitive stand that all should attach?
