Anyone interested in a Red Falco...

#1 Post by GRFalco » Tue Sep 01, 2009 9:10 am

It looks like I may have part ways with mine. Its a red 2001/Y and completely standard. Modders delight!!! I think it's done around 5000 miles but I'd need to check this (If I'm wrong then I'm not far off). It's recently had an MOT and service and I've out new Conti Road Attacks on too.

Only thing is I don't know what to ask for it :smt009

Any thoughts.

PS: Based south of Norwich.

That's a tricky one .... OK, it's 8 yrs old but on the other hand, barely run in!

What general condition is it in?
Has it been garaged and cosseted or has it been left to endure the elements?
What's the service history? (mileage wise just the running in service and first proper service would be due but age related would have been serviced a number of times).

Also, towards the end of "the season" (for those that don't ride all year) prices will not be at their strongest BUT if you can hang on a little, the RiderPower survey usually shows the Falco in a very good light and we usually get a surge of interest and an upward blip in prices.
Can't say how it will do this year but on previous performance (last 2 yrs in the top 20 for all bikes), I'd hope for another good result. Not sure when the results are due but I think within the next couple of months.

.... and with your location, are you dropping in to see us this weekend at the forum's weekend in Norfolk?

Bugger, I'd done a reply and it didn't happen. So this is going to be more terse!!!!
I've kept it garaged and IIRC the previous had it in a lock up for several years.

I bought it of a friend who works at Seastar Superbikes (he sold it on for the original owner to me). They do the servicing for me because they are 5 mins round the corner.

Its in very good condition (I think) apart from so strange blemishes on a small part of the frame. They were there whe I got it so I don't know what they are. The front udguard is cracked (see elsewhere on this forum !!!) But £75 or so will sort this out!!

I'll have to check on the "meet" I've just come back from a gig weekend in Berlin so I don't think I'll be allowed out to play!!!!

Sorry for the delay .... hoped some others might chip in too :smt002

Well given it's age but good condition, I'd guess £2k to £2.5k.

Depending on how things are selling, you might have to set yourself a lower bottom line.

That being said, I've not followed the market that closely - maybe others that have either sold or bought recently can either confirm my guess or give some better advice.

Yes, I'd say that valuation was accurate. The timing is not great. I'd be inclined to get it all nice for next spring. Someone will appreciate the mileage and the fact it's standard. If you put it on ebay right now, you may only get 1500-1800. I would put it on Autotrader at 1995 and be patient if you need to sell before Christmas.

i just let him know so..... we see

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...
