Hi! all,
I'm thinking of fitting a 12volt socket to my Falco to charge Sat Nav etc. I was reading that there is a problem with some bikes electrics where they overheat and burn out plugs. Was wondering if anyone had any experience of this and the remedy. I think I'm quite capable of upgrading the electrics, but I just need to know what bits to do and what bits I need to buy.
For example, I know that there is an upgrade for he CBR1100XX Blackbird, where you can buy an heavy duty stator winding to cope with any extra electrical demands, but not sure about the Falco.
Any info gratefully accepted.

As long as you not running things that draw a lot of current there should be no problem with the capacity of the system. make sure you use suitable gauge wire for the application, take it off from a sensible point and fuse it appropriately.
Unless you really need to have it powered when the ignition is off, take it from a switched supply - or use a relay controlled from a switched supply to control a fused feed from the battery.
I've made a power supply to feed my navigation system and also have heated grips (which do take a fair current) - no problem running these.
