Which tyres?

Hello all,
I've got Pirelli Corsa tyres on at the mo, and they're shagged! I find the front grips well enough, but I the rear feels a bit remote and doesn't inspire confidence. I've got Dunlop Roadsmarts on my VFR and am currently on my 5th set, and they suit the Honda so well, I'm tempted to give them a bash on the Falco. I'm thinking poss Roadsmarts or Qualifier II's? Anyone else run them or recomend an alternative?
1st Italian bike. 1st V-twin, loving it!

I have been on Conti Road attacks for the last couple of years, great tyre in my opinion, especialy in the wet which comes in handy where I am. Life is too short though, I have ordered up a pair of Metzler Rennsports...no idea what they will be like but they are coming in at £160 the pair fitted so already they are right up there :smt003

I'd highly recommend Michelin Pilot Power 2CT's

Superb in all weathers, all road conditions etc... they just grip and grip, and they look like they are gonna last a bit as well.

Woosters on the A64 just out of Leeds are selling them at great prices as the mo as well. I got a 190/55 rear fitted for £137

My Tuono had the Rennsports fited from new, and I reckon you'll like them. They gave the T a very planted feel especially at the front. The only downside is wear (the rear was shot in less than 2,000) and the tread pattern isn't overly great or deep for wet weather although I had no moments in the rain I was concious that IMHO they were primarily a dry tyre but for the money they are superb

I'm gonna be in this position by Autumn and am already pondering.
The Falco has D208RR's on it, which were on there when I bought it. They feel OK but seem to take a good few miles to get the confidence to chuck her about a bit, plus the front end feels quite twitchy - the rear also can at speed.
On my RSV I had normal Diablos (not corsas etc) and I liked them, but that also felt fairly flighty on the front.
Had previously been a devout Bridgestone man and usually go for more long lasting stuff.
Michelin, Conti and Pirelli are all on my virtual list, as well as maybe the roadsmarts, but I only have experience of Bridge & Pirellis.
Has anyone else found some brands make the front end more twitchy than others, or is this just an Aprilia thing?

ive had them all,

diabalos, like them alot
corsa's to twitchy
contis, fell apart
2ct's spun up under hard accelaration in corners, scary
bt016, flattens off to quick

race tech's holy crap they stick like mad, k2 on the rear, k1 on the front, superb:)

Wow, that seems to be a great price for fitted tyres. Can I ask where you're getting that from? I'm Glasgow area, so it'll be useful information for next time.... I've just had Pilot Power 2CTs fitted for £eeeeek! Of course they transformed the handling, but that waasn't difficult as they replaced a worn out set of original MEZ3s.

I've been using Roadsmarts on my Falco for the last 1000 miles and am hugely impressed with them. They grip like buggery, warm up quickly, steer beautifully, are totally stable and still appear brand new.

I scrubbed the rear tyre to the edge within the first 50 miles or so and the feedback they give is superb. I've never really been a fan of Dunlops before, but these tyres just tick every box. I can't comment on mileage yet, but I'd be astonished if I didn't get well over 5000 miles out of them. They certainly suit the Falco down to the ground (pardon the pun) and I can give a wholehearted and unreserved recommendation.

To be honest I don't think you will go too far wrong whatever modern tyre you get; they're all of a very high quality. But Roadsmarts do appear to have moved the game on significantly. I was fitting tyres like these to my 888 Ducati a few years ago and using them for trackdays. Now they're classed as Sport Touring tyres and last for ages. Progress indeed.

here here, my 208's are fine once warm, in terms of grip, but I don't expect many miles out of them and the feeling when commuting on a damp morning isn't great!
Might check out the Roadsmarts.

I have used conti road attacks since i have had the falco - and the rear tyre gets around 5 to 6 k miles life

next time i will be changing to roadsmarts though - I have heard excellent reports about them as well


Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

What's a good price for these?
A lad I went out for a ride with had Maxxis on his thundercat - and paid £200 fitted for them - with a 160, or 170 rear!!!!
Local bike shops take the proverbial!

as falco9 ses, pilot power 2ct's, loads of mls out of them and superb grip, wet or dry.

Ive got 2CT`s on the CB1300, and I rate em, 5K on the rear and still 3mm left. The Falco has Metz M1 Sportecs but with only about 500 miles left in em was thinking Roadsmart. Like Mango, Ive never been a fan of Dunlops after a particular TT100 moment, But I will give em a go next. Thanks for the gen.

I ran diablo corsa 111's, then switched to BT016's, and I love em. Fantastic tyre, rear has done 2k, and had plenty of life left in them. Probably not as good in terms of life as others, but for grip and hoonery, i couldnt recccomend them enough
