RST 1000 Recalls

An official 2001 - 2004 Aprilia RST 1000 Futura recall was issued by the manufacturer or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) on November 01, 2005 to notify consumers on FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:DELIVERY:HOSES, LINES/PIPING, AND FITTINGS problems that may danger the safety of the rider and needs to be repaired. Read the complete details including the solution offered by the manufacturer
RECALL ID# 67334 - FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:DELIVERY:HOSES, LINES/PIPING, AND FITTINGS
Recall Date: November 01, 2005
Model Affected: RST 1000 FUTURA
Component Affected: FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:DELIVERY:HOSES, LINES/PIPING, AND FITTINGS
Recall Summary: ON CERTAIN MOTORCYCLES, THE FUEL LINE QUICK CONNECTORS MAY BREAK IF CARE IS NOT USED WHEN REMOVING THE FUEL TANK AT THE TIME OF SERVICE.
Consequence: THIS COULD RESULT IN FUEL LEAKAGE. FUEL LEAKAGE, IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE, COULD RESULT IN A FIRE.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE QUICK CONNECTORS ON ALL AFFECTED VEHICLES. THE RECALL BEGAN IN SEPTEMBER 2006. OWNERS WHO HAVE NOT HAD THEIR MOTORCYCLE REPAIRED WILL BE RENOTIFIED OF THIS RECALL DURING AUGUST/SEPTEMBER 2008. OWNERS MAY CONTACT APRILIA AT 770-592-2261.

Thanks for heads-up.

The fuel QD is something that most Futura owners pick up on sooner or later, either through learning the hard way, or through searching longer-established forums (fora?? Who's for a bit of pedantry?)

Was only recalled in the US. Easier to sue there....
