That's a serious intinerary you've got planned there! Good call on the Plymouth-Santander route; gets a lot of tedious miles in Northern France out of the way and you're pretty much straight into the good stuff.

We will require pictorial evidence!

Did more or less the same route in May except we only had 8 days so headed North after Millau.

The bit from Pamploma across the top of Spain was one of the best parts of the trip - Good roads devoid of traffic and fantastic scenery.

Wish I was going with you.

Watch out for speed traps going into Calais.

Which route did you take? Did you go to Barbastro then across and up? We haven't planned a route, just kind of winging it :)

We actually didn’t go through Andorra as I‘d been before.

We went from Pamploma toward Jaca on the N240 then N260 and crossed the Pyrenees on the A136/N21 to Lourdes.

From Lourdes we headed towards Arreau on the D935/D918 - an amazing mountain route, then Carcassonne and onto Millau via Sete on the Med coast.

The road up to Millau is a high speed roller coaster ride.

Cheers for the tips - the Arreau route looks very tempting - an interesting way to get down to Andorra :)

So, here she is all packed up and ready to go

In the 'nam bag are a camp chair, rollmat, tent and sleeping bag. Clothes are split between tankbag and topbox, along with sundry camping gear/shoes in the box. Plenty of spare room for picking up beer and baguettes on the way :smt002

Just remembered. On the way to Arreau we stopped on the top of the Col D’Alcise (I think that’s spelt right) which is a good viewpoint.

Just as we were about to set off a Geman registered Falco, two up, pulled in.

I went across for a crack on but he was one of the few Germans I’ve met who couldn’t speak English (and I, needless to say , can’t speak German).

His bike was loaded with soft luggage and he had a top yoke handlebar conversion.

.................. And the bike was black, just like mine :smt001

Wow. Just wow. Totally ruined for UK roads now. I could bang on but I just won't... those who've been know, and those who haven't should go. End of! I've posted over there, as well.

Here's a few pics...

In Plymouth before the off, a Jap, Brit, Kraut and an Eyetie

Some twisties along a lake in Spain

Image

Some more twisties up a very large hill indeed. Bit higher than the Breacons. We rode out of those clouds down in the valley.

A bridge

Image

Another view of some bridge or other

Image

A token casino thrown in for good measure

Image

Some mug at he summit of the Gavia Pass

Image

The smug git in yet another terrible campsite

Image

The Beast in front of yet another hill

Image

A token pic at The Pass

Image

A lovely pair of Italians taking a breather at the Stelvio... I have more pics of the naked one

Image

Only got a couple of pics of the Stelvio as I was too busy riding it, amazing! So... anyone wanna see my trip down the north side...?? I gaffer taped the tripod to my tank. I need to edit the video though into two separate clips before uploading it to youtube... anyone any ideas?

Lovely pics .... and yesterday, having seen Tweakers pics of his Himalaya ride on Facebook, I'm very envious of the pair of you!

We will have to start planning a forum tour for next year and set some dates very soon!
