Magical, Bolt Straight on, Plug 'n' Play Honda StandSwap?

... trawled through a thread search here and in the archive this eve making up my mind which sidestand upgrade route to go. Will opt for prolly Firestorm stand and switch if I can find a clean set - despite having to connect the honda switch it seems to be less mess and fuss than the GSXR, more reliable than the bubsywoo stand, and cheaper and easier to get a hold of than an American spec Falco one. However, there were tantalising references in a few posts (at least one mention by D-Rider) of a totally plug and play transplant available off one of the other honda(?) models. Maybe the 04-07 CBR1000 that someone in the current stand thread mentioned?

Is there such a thing as a Magical, bolt straight on, Plug 'n' Play spec Honda Stand to Swap, or am I just chasing rainbows?

The Blade stand is apparently an unbolt bolt on option prolly only three spanners required (switch bolt, back nut and main bolt) although I'm sure Pierre and Nooj could squeeze in a sledgehammer and hacksaw respectively.

...excellent link! Step by step instructions, pictures and everything. Nothing on Ebay (apart from some loony asking £80 for a gunk-covered '07 one) but found an '04/'05 at thebladeshop.co.uk for £25 incl. postage. Surprised there hasn't been many mentions of blade stands in recent posts - any definitive comments on them from someone who lives with one?

....stand arrived today! Obviously used, but very clean - will chuck it on (unbolt bolt on is about my limit I'm afraid) and try to post pics later.

The Blade stand is a reletively new discovery, apparently it really does just bolt striaght on. Interested to hear how you get on with the swap.

... I bought an '05 Fireblade stand and it was more problematic than I expected - notably the fact that the top of the stand was too square for the falco bracket and I had to get it rounded off with a grinder. The switch however is a perfect direct swap which I know will be the clincher for a lot of swappers. I like the length of the stand and how it rides, but I'm less happy with the lean angle - it's almost vertical... maybe I'm just too used to the lean I had with the OEM stand. If it keeps bugging me, I may see if I can get the leg bent out a bit so it leans more. Does it look alright that upright?:smt012

Hm, tough one, without being stood there I don't know, but I bet when you try to rock the bike it's far more solid?

That looks scarily vertical to me, have you tried to see how much effort it takes to push it over? My guess is not a lot! IMHO I reckon a bit of bending may be needed

I was also fancying this conversion as the Ohlins I have fitted to the Tuono is on max ride height and the bike always feels as if it's going to fall over the std stand is so short

Could be the solution I'm looking for though

I was just going to say that what K1w1boy's bike probably needs is some more rear ride height, and then it would be perfect. The leg is properly kicked out from vertical, it just needs more angle of dangle, and rear ride height would give you that...

....having just reread the AF1 thread where this conversion was discussed, I overlooked the mention of OZSLRs mounting plate being different - possibly US spec. So what I've done is exchanged small foot/bad angle for better foot/worse angle.

would 'reshaping' the stand leg just be a blow-torch and vice exercise then?

.... does that mean shock adjustment? How would one go about getting more ride height?

My thoughts exactly.

But then, not everyone can run more ride height - take Kwackerz for example .....
