Don't be tempted to slip down the hard shoulder.

I had to go to Manchester yesterday. Anyway, coming home it took me about 3 hours to do 20 miles due to an accident blocking lanes 2 and 3 on the M6. The whole 200 miles home was slow moving due to one problem or another until I got to the M40 where there had been what looked like about 8 vehicles involved in one pile up.

Despite being frustrated at being held up from getting home at a decent time, there was nothing I could do about it and I just had to sit there and wait. But a few had different ideas and decided to use the hard shoulder and jump the queue.

I had been stationary for about half an hour watching these tossers come racing down the shoulder behind me. A Volvo (surprise surprise ) convertible came past at about 50 - 60 MPH totally not giving a monkeys about the consequences and obviously under the assumption that the Police were too busy dealing withthe accident ahead.

10 minutes later and the traffic starts moving, and guess what? The Volvo had ploughed into the back of one of the broken down vehicles on the hard shoulder :rotflmao: You can guess what my thoughts were? Fortunately the occupants of the broken down vehicle were out and in safety, I don't think the occupants of the Volvo got off so lightly, and I am afraid I have no sympathy.

So, just be carefull out there
It is better to arrive 30 seconds late in this world than 30 years early in the next
