BlueAnt Interphone Bike <-> Bike Intercom

Morning all,

I had a chance over the weekend to try one of these units out with a mate. I was a bit skeptical that it would work, seeing how loud my Falco is.

I have to say, they are great! (Provided you keep the speed under about 120 km/hr, or if there isn't too much wind noise. My mate's spare helmet (a HJC something-or-other) with the BlueAnt unit installed seemed a lot noisier than my ancient Shoei.)

Speech is clear and easily understood, even at 100km/hr. The noise-cancellation works well and you don't get much noise through the headset when riding, and I wasn't able to hear the Falco's exhaust note being broadcast back into my headset, and my mate said he could hear the Rotax engine noise instead of the exhaust noise.

They make conversation a lot easier, and if one of you gets a few cars ahead / behind the other you can still warn of dangers or turning at intersections.

If you're out with a novice rider, I they'd be an excellent way of giving feedback instantly, rather than waiting until you stop or finish the ride.

Would I buy a set? Yes.

Got one of these, they really are superb. My little brother has one too, so when we are out together he always comments on the great sound of my falco in his earoles.

He has a Zumo 550 which connects up just great, but you can only listen to one device at a time, so if he listens to his satnav, he can't here me (or my bike).

Mrs. Viking was going to buy a pair of these as a Christmas present to us both. Except she couldn't remember what / where / etc.

So I went looking for them, and they've been replaced by the new F4 model. Lots of new features, and a higher price to match.

It all looked great until I saw the telephone part. Who in their right minds wants a b****y telephone on their sodding motorbike?

Bike to bike communications - great; very useful. Having people interrupt my riding by calling me on the phone - not great at all. It's one of the things I'm happy to leave behind when on the bike.

So who makes the best bike to bike headsets, then? I'm really not interested in paying for something I don't want and will never use...

This looks like a realy good product, just what I'm after, but where can you get them in the UK, the website states:

I use these: Cardo Scala Rider Q2

They do:
* bike to bike (within a limited range - but plenty good if you are riding together)
* rider to passenger
* connect to your navigation system (if bluetooth enabled)
* connect to your phone - if you want to - it's not compulsory
* has an inbuilt FM radio

I've used them a lot when riding with my son whose on L-plates - particularly when he was very new to riding.

Reading the blurb, it seems that they can do more than when the ones I use were obtained - more simultaneous connection plus wired connection to MP3 player too.

Not used many of the other features but I really rate these ... not cheap though .... fortunately I've not had to pay for the ones I use .......

I have an Autocom set up. Bike to bike, sat nav, mp3, rider pillion, and phone

but they also do just a bike to bike set up.
