Just got this through on an email from M and P:

R&G Resevoir protector

Keep your reservoir protected with a handy reservoir protector (booty).

This black elasticated protector features a white sewn R&G logo in two positions. It simply fits straight over your reservoir keeping it well protected and cosy warm too !

And here was me thinking that hot brake & clutch fluid was a bad thing, and that Rossi & co started using these to keep the sun off of the fluid (and therefore heating it up). Shows how much I know.
