Yep .... just had a text from a forum member in A&E.

He has broken his wrist .... it's not bike-related .... he fell out of his loft!
(stop sniggering, it's not funny ... no really it isn't)

I'll give you some clues:

I was supposed to meet him today in Hunstanton for a ride out while we are both on holiday
He dropped out of the ride to Hunstanton as he has a bad back
Despite a back too painful to ride his comfy Falco (with bars above the top yoke) he ventured into his attic

Obviously we wish him well for his recovery (once he eventually gets out of A&E) .... I was wondering whether anyone can suggest any appropriate exercises to strengthen his wrist as he recovers.

Aha, this sounds like Pete... Now he's going to regret pissing off all those nurses.

At least you didn't have to spend the day in Hunstanton.

what the lovely andy forgot to mention is that he did not feel he could make it due to a sore neck - cause unknown.
I believe that it is probably caused by excessive Tongue lolling - as you are all probably aware people steer their zimmer frames by using Their tongues.....

Am in a and e waiting for a plaster or similar

The poor lad is delirious ... but hours in A&E can do that to you ... though I guess it could be related to the obvious balance problem that manifest itself earlier in the day ....

Yes, I have got a stiff neck however the historical records will show that the Hunstanton trip was cancelled by the sufferer of the bad back .... now with broken wrist.

And Fausto, yes I realise how fortunate I am to be spared the "delights" of Hunstantinople.

Been in touch with Pete today.
Bad news is it will be some time 'till he can ride again.

There is some good news though - as he was "trade" they fast-tracked him through A&E - all sorted in 2.5 hrs.
It is rumoured he also negotiated staff discount and got both wrists plastered for the price of one.

Anyone know the statistics for motorcycle injuries vs DIY/domestic injuries (TC no doubt). Anyhow Pete, I'll relate this to Nooj when I see him this weekend.

and amazing how much it hurts.....

i hope to be back riding inside two weeks - and have already wangled a week of office duty so am back to work on tuesday

my wife made me laugh

So "I've broken my wrist" now translates to "I've a bit of soft tissue damage" ..... though that description sounds more like you fell on your head .....

... and "Bike is likely to be a fair while" now translates to "I hope to be back riding inside two weeks" ......

Not sure if there's a clue in that statement .... I hope this wasn't caused due to you riding inside ? - there will be hell to pay if the mrs finds out ....

i may have done scaphoid - they never show up well on xray - if i have done it, again, then i am a lucky chap as i have good blood supply - so it will heal from both ends

however, soft tissue, ligaments, can be worse than a fracture - it does not appear that i have taken the ligaments off the plates, but even if strained they will take 2 weeks - if i have taken one off a plate, then can be a long time - but i am hopeful!

and finally, i have said two weeks - so my wife cannot stop me! it may well take longer.... but i can do as i please :)

and have i said how much it hurts? no sympathy but my, codeine can be fun.... am cooking a red hot chilli tomorrow night just in case - and try wiping your bum with a hand swaddled in bandages!
