Rideout Invitation - Taunton - 28th April
Background:
You may remember that someone called Shrek asked for help in choosing between a Suzuki SV and a Falco.
Well, if you aren't aware, it kicked off into a major slagging war - particularly over on the SV and AF1 sites. Anyway, I'm not wanting to rake through the debris of that little spat, except to say that one of the Mods on the SV forum has tried to broker a peace and has invited Falco owners to their next Rideout.
He posted up on the AF1 site but I checked with him and he is happy if ARS riders can join in.
I think it would be good if some of us could get there - may show them that we're not a bunch of tossers and may show us that they are not as well (or maybe we'll all be tossers together)?!
Not absolutely sure whether I can make it but if I can, I'm up for it .... Anyone else?
Details:
Date: Sat 28th April, 2007
Meeting Place: Taunton (somewhere TBC)
Activity: 150 miles in the West Country (in search of beaches lined with crates of BMWs ??)
The invite from Skids is below:
I would therefore like to extend the courtesy of inviting Aprilia Owners to our Bi-Annual South West Meeting which meets at Taunton and covers 160 of the finest miles that North Devon and Somerset has to offer. It originally was for SV1000s when I started the meets in 2003, but as people changed bikes, i have never turned anyone away just for not being on an SV - remember, I am on an R1!
The date is Saturday 28th April 2007 and full details will be on the home page in March on the Sv portal website ( www.sv-portal.com ) or alternatively contact me on my email sv1000clothing@hotmail.com . I do charge £2.50 per rider as the money goes to help pay for the SV forum server charges, but nobody has ever complained about the day, well to my knowledge anyway.
All I would ask is that you let me know if you are coming as i do organise groups so the rideouts are enjoyable for all members of all sites the numbers don't attract the wrong attention (plod) and it is most importantly SAFE for everyone so they enjoy the day and want to come back again.
We all ride bikes, irrespective of the brand, we all have a "bond" that only a motorcyclist can relate to.
Lets use it to good use rather than tearing chunks out of each other.

There's some cracking roads in Somerset and I like the man's tone of voice. I'd be up for it if anyone else goes (not wanting to be the odd one out)D-Rider wrote:Background:

D-Rider do we contact him direct? I can't wait until March (short memory and that)
From the stuff that Skidz posted up, I think he'd welcome any makes of bike (he rides an R1 !).Gio wrote:Maybe I do, but not all the sv site people ride sv'sKwackerz wrote:Gio, you own a BMW

There was a little clue in there....
Yes Gio - contact him direct - you could always explain that you are part of the Aprilia forum but ride a German Tractor.
For any Aprilia riders there is the added advantage that the SV riders will see what you're riding and not associate you with the rest of us

Cheers.

Nice to see the olive branch being offered, and I agree with him that as bikers we have enough enemies without laying in to each other just over what bike we choose to ride.
Unfortunately I'm already booked for the 28th and to be honest it's a long long treck from Yorkshire so I'd probably have whimped out anyway, but I hope some Falco owners can make it as it sounds like a great weekend
Have Fun
