Fuel exhausts
I bought my Falco in December and have resisted the urge to modify it, except for the sidestand that is. However, my resolve weakened when Timovee, erstwhile Falco owner and now the proud owner of a gorgeous Tuono, mentioned in a post that he had a pair of Fuel exhausts for sale. To cut a long story short, they are now on my bike and sound gorgeous. Much more like the sound a V twin should make. They're also much lighter and being slimmer, enhance the look of the bike IMHO. Tim has cut down the baffles so they are just short pipe stubs, but I am considering returning it to a sttndard baffle configuration in case Mr Policeman takes an interest. Fuel want £20 each for new ones plus postage, which is more than it would cost me to weld up a couple of extensions, so could someone please tell me what length the original Fuel baffles are and how they are finished? Are they just plain tubes with open ends, or perforated tubes with plain ends? Any help will be greatly appreciated, thank you.

even with out the baffles plod will leave the fuel cans alone in my experience
trust me, i had baffles in my fuel cans for approx 30 minutes and ran with out baffles for a good year - and during that year i was pulled a fair few times - exhausts were never a problem

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

Don't know about the Fuel cans, the baffles in my Beowulf cans are just a tube about 4" long maybe 5" at a push, with a kink of about 40 degrees, that's it. Don't seem to do much sound deadening, but they look legal and you can't poke a stick straight down. Legal stamped but bloody loud and worry me when I see a copper. Been stopped twice for roadside checks and each time OK.

Actually, scrub that. Went for a ride (as opposed to ticking over on the drive)on a private road with the baffles removed and found they are a fair bit louder. Not sure if i'm comfortable with the increased volume, sound lovely when i change down though
On the plus side, I think there is a slight increase in power, bike now wheelies in 2nd much easier than before (on a private road still). Just out of interest how long are your cut down baffles?

Dunno what you lot keep goin on about loud cans for.
I've had my blue flames on for the six years I've had the bike, no baffles and stamped "not for road use"
Been pulled a couple of times, admired by coppers and even did bike safe with em on.
Loud??
I'll say and I've never changed em for the annual MOT either.
Just run em FFS

Hi all,
I have the Aprilia SL Race Cans on, sound splendid
Not taken them off for 3 mot's, just coasted into garage
The "For race use only," has mysteriously evapourated off the cans
My thought is, they can see me (My HID on all the time) they can hear me as well, safer for me all around
Point made, not points on my license

My warranty is the clear/smoked tail lights around the corner!!
The problem is that MoT testers and regional police forces differ in their approach. Some police forces have openly stated that they will prosecute loud and illegal cans and other infractions such as small number plates without question. I plan to tour across the UK and don't fancy getting unlucky in one of those less lenient counties. Interestingly, I fitted a Triumph carbon can to my Sprint, and like Greg's, it mysteriously lost the "Not For Road Use" stamp overnight in my garage. Although it wasn't much louder than the standard, and certainly not louder than the legal can I now have, my MoT tester wouldn't pass it because he felt that it was louder; nothing to do with the absent stamp . Also, while I do want to release some of that V twin rumble, I don't want the bike to be so loud that it annoys people, or becomes tiring for me to listen to on long runs. It's down to individual choice.

Poor Dusty
Sounds like you have to move to a much more "lenient," area of the country. I must admit, having been down south the traffic plod do seem more how can I put it; "Tedious and bolshey," a loud (not illegal thou) can does save lives
If I hear a loud exhaust on a dinky supped up car I can hear it and think, what a toss person! But, a bike is different, after all every time we cock our leg over the saddle we take a risk of alot of car/van drivers not seeing us
My personal experience in mostly in towns, where they fail to see a bike and change lanes or pull out thinking we are invisible
That is why I "Filter" out of town as quickly and safely as I can
The areas in the UK that have an abundent supply of bikers seem to annoy the plod
My favourite is that THEY are bikers themselves, friggin hypocrites, you can't tell me plod bikers ride well below the speed restrictions
Double hypocrites!!!!! Anywho, hope we ride with fun and safety, after all MOST friggin harleys are louder than my cans
Do you hear of them getting pulled, NO me thinks is the question....
