my "luck" continue (battery)
Yesterday when i was supposed to go home from work the bike would not start, just a fart and then just crancking.. when jumpstarting it fired up fine. went back home and put to charger on, it showed it was almost fully charged. This morning... same thing, so took the car.
RH display says 11,5V and when trying to start it drops to 9V. I have no idea how old the battery is. I will check all connections, but how much drop is normal?
Could my starting problems have something to do with the Gabro chip as it smells somewhat rich and relatively more smoke is exiting the exhaust..

not sure about chip fuel mixture thing. All my starting problems were cured with a new battery. My old battery also showed a full charge and I even brought an optimiser which seemed to help for a day or two. My bike is an 05 and was on the original battery. When I had the old battery I flooded it on a few occasions and presumed it just didnt have the umph too turn it over properly.
Hope this helps.

The MF backfired on me big time...uuuhh need to change underwear.
the backfire and rich smell led me to think about the chip. So I have just put in the old stock PA07, and guess what.... it fired up first time and runs smooth.
only thing is 13,0V at 4K, dont know if thats acceptable.

According to the book you should see a reading of between 13V and 15V at 4k revs with the dipped beam on. Yours sounds a little on the low side.finn wrote: only thing is 13,0V at 4K, dont know if thats acceptable.
What about trying to start it with the Gabro chip using jump leads to a strong battery? This would tell you whether it is a battery issue or not.

Fausto, i did that yesterday and it worked ok.
The problem was/is that it just crancks and crancks...then a burb/fart... cranck cranck again..battery drained. Same thing today after charging, but a very big backfire this time. Fitted the stock chip, fired up first time.
Correction to Volts. 13,5V driving with dip.
ok, whats next? should i take off the open airbox filter and fit the stock? or leave it as is.
Thanks for your answers.

If it's turning over well but not firing, the primary reason is not the battery.
If you've got sparks (when your plugs are dry) and fuel is getting through, then I bet it's flooding.
Cranking until the battery gives up isn't going to help.
If it floods you should resort to the tried and tested emergency method. Open the throttle completely and crank it over.
Bet that'll get it going.
Obviously only go down this route when you really have to.
BTW, how do you normally start it? Normally, open the fast idle control, leave the throttle well alone and thumb the button. Don't be tempted to give it a bit of throttle.

D-Rider, yes full fast idle and hand off the throttlel, lights off and clutch pulled.
It crancks fine but i think its drowning itself. when i then try the full throttle trick it backfires and thats it.. its just strange that when i put the stock chip in and tried the normal startprocedure as above, it fired up first time no trouble at all.
Think i will put the Gabro chip in again and experiment with the fast idle position.
Thanks
