Replacing Headlight Bulb

#1 Post by EdinburghFalco » Tue Mar 17, 2009 4:24 pm

I am trying to replace the dip headlight bulb and now have no skin on my knuckles! :smt013 Any tips on how to get that metal retaining clasp off the back of the bulb? Which way do you push in and down or in and up?

Just came back from the lock up and not that I'm taking the p***, but it wasn't too difficult (seriously).

You mean the metal thingy (12)?
You have the rubber protectoc off, right?

Push it in (as in towards the bulb), and then move it up. That's it.

The 1st time I tried mine it proved impossible and I ended up taking the fairing off to get to it.

Yeah - the main problem is not being able to see what you are trying to do - was a right pain!
Once you've worked out how to undo the clips you can do it with only minor removal of flesh from your hands.
I wouldn't fancy trying to swap a bulb in the dark at the side of the road.

You also need the right hands! Don't think mine are the right shape.
After 20 mins or so, (quicker the next time you do it), I managed to swap the dip for the first time some years ago. Now find this easier, but still have massive problems with the main beams, unless I take the plastics off. :smt009 :smt017 :smt009 :smt017
