probs the most irrelevant topic ever but I am curious

are you

man go crazy - as in a crazy man

or

mango crazy - like you really enjoy eating mangos

I just wondered which one it is

Well.... I don't think I'm really that crazy - fairly normal in fact (if someone can tell me what normal is), but I do like mangoes, in fact I'd go so far as to say they're my favourite fruit.

Mangocrazy was also the title of an album by Roger Chapman in the early-mid 80s (he was also in Family and Streetwalkers), and I always really liked the man and his music. The play on words in the album title appealed to me but it was only some years later, when I travelled to the Philippines and met my future wife there, that I tasted Philippine mangoes and was completely hooked (I'm sure my wife used them as bait...

).

At some point the Chappo album title popped into my head, and when I was searching for a forum user name it just seemed like a good idea. That's it, really.

But Philippine mangoes really are the best - fruit of the gods...

Ahha. Whatever happened to Graham Chapman? Used to love his singing style with Family.

He's actually still 'keeping the faith'. He relocated to Germany in the mid 80s, as they seemed to appreciate him better than the UK. But he is touring the UK in May of 2009, or so his fan site says. (If 4 dates constitutes a tour, that is...)

Thanks Graham, I'll keep my eye on him. Once met his ex-wife or ex-girlfriend at the Round Table National Conference back in 78. Christ.. that's 30 years ago. Luckily, I recorded all the Prog. Rock stuff off BBC4 a couple of months ago, to watch when my wife goes back to the UK at the end of the month. I'm sure Family is on there somewhere.

I'm allergic to mango

which is a shame as whenever I forget and eat one they do taste mighty fine

The blistering of the lips afterwards soon reminds me though

Nope, dead serious. Haven't a clue what he sounds like now; the last time I heard him live was probably nearly 30 years ago. He could be dreadful now, for all I know, but voices like his tend to age well.

Blimey - I didn't know you could be allergic to them. Anything else that causes probs like this, or just mangoes?

As far as I'm concerned it's just mangoes.

It's taken me years to work it out though. Back in the late 80's I worked on a Kibbutz and got a dreadful rash on my arms. It was assumed it was the flowers I was handling (Gypsophilia) and I have avoided them ever since. Then one day more recently I was enjoying a mango in the traditional get it all over your face way and noticed blistering on my lips and face. A bit of thinking and I remembered also working on Mango trees in the Kibbutz and put 2 and 2 together.

I guess this means I could scoff Gypsophilia to my hearts content

Nooj - got loads of Tull on my Ipod. Also, spent all Tuesday painting windows listening to about 7 hours solid of Led Zep (a box set from my daughter about 8 years ago transferred to Ipod also). Went to see a band called Van der Graaf Generator at Kings Hall Derby in about 1973. They were crap as there equipment didn't work well. However, the support band were excellent. A little known band called... Genesis.
