Welcome to the site mate, nice to have you with us!
I declared all mine to Carol Nash and they cost me nothing.
Main things were the extra plastics, belly pan and rear hugger, improved rear shock and the race cans which still had baffles fitted, and were stamped up legal, so were deemed not to increase the performance, therefore they did not charge me any extra.
Well fine with me.

+1 for Carole Nash, didn't cost me anything extra for the mods - same mods as HowardQ's.
We've all got a different perception of risk, mine (where insurance is concerned) is that if the worst happens, most insurers will do anything not to pay out, so I'd rather not give them any excuses

Hi Willmoir - and welcome.
I insure with MCE - they were the cheapest i could find - also the cheapest for my 21yr old son on his 125 and my 17yr old on his 50cc scooter.
I think that the effect of mods on your premium will depend on your insurance history and your age.
At my last renewal I declared absolutely everything I'd done and everything I expected to do in the coming year. I made a point of explaining the purpose of the modifications and the fact that a lot of the changes were the substituting of higher spec parts from other Aprilias that shared compatibility.
This made no difference at all to my premium .... but I'm no youngster any more.
On the other hand, tommy couldn't get insurance for removing some of the plastics and making a naked Falco ..... cos he is a youngster (for once I can feel smug for not being so young any more)
So the effect on premium depends on age ..... but I think it would be very risky not to declare mods - you could end up paying out and then find you're not insured - if the worst happens, greatly out of pocket and on the wrong side of the law.
My view is it's not worth the risk - stick with standard until insuring a modified bike becomes affordable.

i did start to go through it with my insurance company and they started to have to put me on hold while they spoke to the under writers
each time they spoke to them it got a longer and longer wait....

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...
I insured my bike couple of days ago. £350 fully comp with "simply insurance" (£300 excess) they wouldn't let me turn her into a flat bared naked fighter. But aftermarket cans didn't put my premium up at all.D-Rider wrote:Hi Willmoir - and welcome.

Here's one for you, me on a 3 year old 1.6ltr diesel fiesta..... over £1000!!!
.... and I just got a quote for me and the mrs on a 6 yr old Mazda 6 (2ltr diesel).... £1818 ..... more than 10 times what I pay on the Falco.tommy wrote:I insured my bike couple of days ago. £350 fully comp with "simply insurance" (£300 excess) they wouldn't let me turn her into a flat bared naked fighter. I think I can probably find better ......
Wow... and I thought I was being nailed for my age. I paid £210 for the Falco last year with £250 excess (renewal coming in April) and just paid £270 also with £250 excess for my old shape Ford Focus.tommy wrote:I insured my bike couple of days ago. £350 fully comp with "simply insurance" (£300 excess) they wouldn't let me turn her into a flat bared naked fighter.
