GOOD BRAKES AREN'T THEY!

Travelling back from Glasgow on the M8 on Tuesday afternoon I had cause to be thankful for the Flaco's Brembos and the new pads I had fitted at the last service. Doing about 80mph in the outside lane the car two in front suddenly hit its brakes as a dog ran out in front of it. The car hit the dog and the car behind managed to stop within inches of the one in the collision and the beast came to a controlled halt with room to spare. However having stopped I heard that sickening noise of brakes screaming behind me and a bump, I was sure I was going to be rear ended. There was nothing in the inside lane so I just pinned the throttle and went round the cars and dog and off still hearing the noise of brakes and bumps behind.
I am pretty sure that the Falcos brakes and acceleration saved me from a potentially dangerous situation. Had one of those terrible cold sweats when the adrenalin subsided and I realised how close a call it had been. These reminders of how vulnerable you are on a bike are sobering

A bit too close for comfort by the sound of it.
Makes you think though, it's brill to have top brakes but you must remember
the (slow to accelerate/slow to stop) cars behind you.

Sounds like that was some quick thinking and good bike control under pressure. I guess thats what really counts when the chips are down

good fast thinking edinburghfalco did you manage to change down and use the slipper clutch , i had to stop quick ones so i know mine works

I was sitting on the M8 just past Newbridge heading west on Tuesday afternoon when I heard this almighty growl then a Falco went rumbling past, needless to say I had a big smile on my face. Just how good do our bikes sound!!!!

Hey, 3rd gear on the overrun sounds like a truck retarder on mine. It's now my gear of choice in town!

I was heading east on the M8 Tuesday afternoon, red Falco, black leathers and silver/grey helmet.
For you dog lovers the dog appeared to be sitting up but couldn't stand up and was making a pretty horrendous noise

Be a case for the vet with the big needle I reckon. You had a lucky escape though!

If you think Falco brakes are good, they pale in comparison to the radial brembos on the new Aprilias.
