let the transformation begin .....

#1 Post by sthomson1 » Tue Jan 13, 2009 4:23 pm

now...what do i do with all these wires :-)

Im going to streetfighter the Falco. Was thinking of selling it for an xjr1300, but, i like the v-twin too much :-)
The plan is to install twin lights (dominator) with a flyscreen, but, keep the original clocks...i think the welder will be getting fired up for this one !!!!

The biggest problem is the frikin wires and the 2 fuse boxes ... feck knows where ill HIDE them

Paint them gold and make a feature of them....

Keep us informed - I'm heading this way I just know it.

I'm going down the same route as soon as i get some cash together. If you remove the airbox and fit a renegade (or DIY) base plate, that leave alots of room under the tank. A small bracket can be made to attach to the tank bolts to hold the relay etc, as the height of the base plate is a good few inches lower than the height of the airbox, and it wont block the intake 'hole'. Just an idea mind, i've not attempted it (yet)

Tommy is right, a lot of space there. Mind however that cables run together under the fairing and only then split, if you hide them under the tank they'll have to split from theretoo for it all to make sense. I imagine that it'll be a tricky one as you'll have to shorten the pre-split part and longer the post-split part.

Good luck!

Right. I have a proposition for ya. I recently bought a ktm duke 2 headlight (Inc fairing, bulbs, lights, everything) to use on my falco. looks a doddle to fit. Trouble is, mr insurance man hates me (Im 22) and wont insure me once ive streetfightered it. The clocks fit perfect in the top, and had loads of space for wiring, relays, and fuses etc.

If you're interested, its up for sale. Its MINT condition, and finished in red and black.

Here's what it would look like on a falco (mutts nuts in my opinion)

Funny. When I was deciding upon buying the Falco I had a hard time talking myself out of buying the Duke2... This would have been a nice compromise! :smt003

Dont half look cool, love fighters. My insurance runs out end of the month. Had little ring around, and companys wont insure me once its streetfightered. Or i get a seriusly high quote. For instance, im 22, 4 NCB, 6 yrs exp, clean licence etc, and i pay 640 fully comp. Once streetfightered, one company wanted 1000. I'll happy put up with bad back and sore nuts for that

This is what i did on my track bike. Just pulled the loom back and tie-wrapped it up, i think the fusebox went by the side of the engine behind the frame rail and the rest in the middle 'dead' area behind the headstock. Wasnt very neat but it was out of sight and the air inlet thingys

Thanks to Tommy, I got a hold of the ktm duke 2 unit.
Made a bracket for the bottom (the assembly swings forward/down to access the bulbs), hooked up the lights...all i need to do is get some fork brackets to hold the assembly in at the top, and make a mounting plate for the clocks.
All the cabling will fit up behind the fairing, and the fuse boxes will be zip tied to the fork legs.

Heres some photos of it temporarily mounted.

Looks fantastic, mate, and the clock (or should I say 'dashboard') fits in very nicely (always a concern size-wise). Keep us posted, I really want to see the final result!

Gonna look the mutts nuts when its finished, the fairing really suits. Seemed a pity to sell the fairing, would have kept it if insurance companys didn't hate me. lol

Not my bike sadly, I found picture on the internet. But when it comes to radiators, anyone thought of underseat rads Benelli Tornado style? I would try it, but I lack the time, money, and know-how
