Dates for Forum raid on France .... Please vote

#1 Post by D-Rider » Sun Jan 11, 2009 8:58 pm

Right .... we need to start to home-in on the best dates for this invasion of France.

Pete's already booked his time off work at the end of June

It seems Nooj is fairly set on going at the beginning of June

So .... when do we all want to go? do we all go at the same time or do we go in two waves .... though turning up in the second group after Nooj has already been and sawn the town up may carry greater risk ...

If some want to do a week and others a fortnight, well that could work if they overlap.

Anyway, please vote for the option that suits you best.
If you are not planning on coming, don't vote but "maybes" are welcome to give their opinion.

If you vote "other" please post up what you mean by "other".

Thanks.

If date decrees I miss out it is ok!
Due to nature of my job I am limited as to when I can get time off and I think main interest is for begining of month . I have a couple of friends who are off same time as me so we will have a seperate little foray

Fortunately they have got rid of the hardley moving son!

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

I've voted for the last week in June, but can be flexible to a degree. I'm hampered by annoying stuff like on-call, but I'm sure dirty deals can be done dirt cheap...

If the chosen site is reasonably close to the Moneypit (and the Beziers gite certainly is) that gives us extra freedom, anyway.

Yep ... as far as I'm concerned it's Falco + friends and the whole Ridersite definitely falls into the friends category.
Snappy, unless everyone tells me I'm wrong, you're most welcome :smt001

I have voted for the last fortnight. However, I can't do all of it and I am thinking about 7 days away. I would also prefer not to try and get away at TT time because of the difficulty in getting a ferry booked, plus not wanting to miss the TT. Having said that, I am flexible.

My other half was supposed to be going away with me on the back of my Triumph but I detect a lack of enthusiasm for spending time on the pillion. In that case, a solo trip away on the Falco might be the better option. I don't believe in forcing someone to do something they don't want to. Well, not a holiday, anyway...

For what it's worth, you could ship the other half on Ryanair from Liverpool to Carcassonne for usually about £20, and meet her down here. You get the fun, she gets the comfort.

I voted for the 2nd fortnight.

My other half is a Frenchy from Caen, Normandy. Im keen to visit some battlefields and D-day beaches in northern France before heading south I so might just have to meet you on the way/there.

Falcomille,

Great plan that, except she will not fly.

I'm getting the impression that our dates will be set for us by accomodation availability, probably left it too late to choose a lot of places.

I vote for the 4th of June. Then you can all play soldiers on the beaches of Normandy. :smt002

Just make certain there aren't any BMW riders around - they might get a bit upset. :smt003
It's the V-twin thing. There's just something about it that inline-4s don't have at all, and V-4s don't have enough of.

I will be flexible. If it means missing a few days of TT so be it. As long as I can get a ferry off! If the accommodation coincides with the Catalunya MotoGP, I might take a trip down. Early days of thinking about it, but I am getting the urge to start planning! Any more news on accommodation?
