Ok. Had a squared off rear tyre and a slow puncture in the front so (he thought), it was a brilliant time to get rid of the Michelins (which he never liked).
£250 lighter, job well done.
Got the bike out this morning, flat tyre!
Nothing hole-making in there, no leaks around the valve.
Rims look, at first inspection, like there's no sign of buckling.
Any ideas?

Assumimg you've pumped it back up and double checked the valve, I reckon the tyre might not be fully seated on the bead and it's leaking there
If that's not the case...remove offending wheel and take it back to your tyre depot, tyres can be faulty. National Tyres in Barnsley where I have mine done always have 3-4 tyres sat there looking perfect (in most cases) but are faulty and being returned to the manufacturers
Best of luck sorting it out

Could the rim have a hairline crack in it, or if some of the paint is missing, the metal could become porous (to air that is). I suppose the best thing to do is put the wheel and tyre in water to see where the air bubbles are coming from.

I would unscrew the valve inside bit and check it's both clean and then tight once you put it back in. I had a similar flat once and this sorted it.

Ok, problem solved.
Using my vast intellect, superior technical knowledge and astonishing mechanical skills I....
...left it for two days and problem seems to have sorted itself out
Probably a bit of dirt in the valve when they fitted the tyre. Let itself down the once and that must have cleared it?
Anyway, all done.
Having said that, I might be selling the Falco soon

'Fraid so. Problem is, just lost my job and have to decide to run with the Falco or the Mille? Just waiting to take the better half out on the Mille but, if she's happy on the back, that's the one that's staying (can make more money selling the Falco)

Sorry to hear that, matey. I guess a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do... No chance of any replacement work in the pipeline?

Nothing shining out. Just sticking applications out by the dozen and waiting to see what sticks. Tried to register with a local agency and they aren't allowing any new registrations as they have more people than jobs!
Course, the suggestion was made that this might be a good time to go over to France for a while and see if I can get some work (got a house there)...

Where in France are you? Falcomille and myself both have houses over there, except I think mine is best described as a 'work in progress'...

Just on the Somme/Pas de Calais border. Place called Auxi le Chateau. Anywhere near you?

Unfortunately no - we're in deepest darkest Languedoc
Long way to go, mind. It's got to be getting on for 1000 miles from Sunny Sheffield... How often do you get over there?
