first post again (sidestand again)
Right, first post on the new site, although posted a fre times on the old one (same username).
Anyway, have now got myself a lovely strong sidestand:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... &rd=1&rd=1
Will be fitting it this weekend (attempting anyway). I have read all the posts on this (I think), and as I am to mechanics that Patrick Moore is to the high jump, I will not be refiting the sidestand sensor, just unbolting the original stand and bolting on the new one. Then, if I remember rightly, I have to cut the wire somewher and join it together.
Is it as simply as this, or is there any more advide out there?
I have to get this mod done, as I am finding myself choosing not to take the Falco out due to the sidestand worry.

Hiya Gazuk.
There was a recent thread about doing this mod. with (I think) a jumper on the wires..........
Try this.... https://www.ridersite.com/viewtopic.php?t=384

Yup - I traced the wire from the switch up to the loom, there's a connector just behind the frame spar. I cut the wire on the SWITCH side of the connector rather than on the "bike" side, so I can just replace the switch/wire if I want it back, rather than affecting the main loom. The connector has three wires - splice the two "outer" wires. That's it, job done. I'll try and get pics at the weekend if you want.

You can just re-join the wires, of course, you wouldn't need to replace the switch etc if you wanted it back, like I suggested above. To be honest, I've not missed it at all, it wasn't something I "got used to" needing.
While I think of it, you can buy a connector block that jumps the wires for you - I think AF1 in the states was selling them at one point. But the only benefit is not cutting the switch cable...

"Jumper" is just a term used for a connector joining two electrical connections together, ie a piece of wire to bypass the switch, or to get your starter relay to activate without pressing the button. Depending on what you connect, it might keep you warmgazuk wrote:my jumper keeps me warm in these cold nights, what does that one do?
(like a jumper between live & neutral on a 240V supply

Whats your username over there. Theres lots of posts on sidestands and I cant' find one with GSXR stand pictures.falcomunky wrote:Looks the same as the Gixer stand I put onto mine; Hell of an improvement!![]()
I reused the switch; Simply bolted it back into place!
Theres a thread back on ARS with some pics I took that might help...
gazuk wrote:Thats a little worrying, I thought I was a simple unbolt original and bolt on gsxr stand.bigun wrote:Post the link here too! I've got a gsxr stand/bracke/switch and was mucking about yesterday. Couldn't work out how to put it on. Was being a bit thick about it tho and couldn't be a*rsed!
... well, so it is ... along with a little bit of drilling, welding, grinding and, depending on how you decide to do it, possibly a little thread-cutting as well (I avoided this by welding a nut in place).
Great mod though and well worth the effort.
