as a part of my rear end modification, I will shortly be selling my luggage

(NO - DO NOT ASK NOW! people here will get first offer/refusal )

just interested in what people think I should ask for it?

It is the full set - tank bag, panniers and racks and genuine aprilia tail roll

All bar the tail roll with the covers, and all in good order

I am inclined not to split them, but to sell as a full set - or do people think they would gain more for being sold seperatly?

(I am not being greedy, but the sale of this lot is to raise funds for some new luggage - well, bits for me to ... make some thing shall we say :)

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

I think you should split them too. I imagine a few people already have tank bags for example.

The roll bag is rare like hens teeth!
I got mine from Germany and it is the only time I have ever seen one for sale

I paid £100 about 16 months ago for the panniers, rack and tail roll off ebay.

They seem to be rarer now more than ever which makes them more valuable. You are definately looking at 3 figures + for the whole set.

... in a similar vein, are there any cheap but cheerful alternatives to aprilia equipment that anyone recommends? I have ageing globetrotter parents in Czech plan to visit after the thaw there and tend to travel on undies-in-a-backpack type luggage. (I haven't even owned a tankbag since my early years on cruisers).

Well if you really travel light then I would just go for a small tailpack. Something like a Kriega that fits to the pillion pad. Cheap brands like Oxford and Buffalo would do.

If like me you can't deal with a backpack then a tankbag is extremely useful but not so straightforward on a plastic tank. Also cheaper ones tend to get in the way for refuelling.

I have used Oxford Sports throw over panniers on the Falco. They were fine but a bit fiddly to fit at first. A problem here is the shape of the seat fairing - the backs of the panniers rest on the 'edge' which will need protecting. They probably won't work if you have high level cans.

The thing with luggage is that the more of it you have the more you are tempted to take.

Pardon my ignorance here, but does the 'official' Aprilia Falco luggage permit rider and passenger; i.e. does it use the passenger seat as part of the luggage area?

I'm looking for some panniers that will permit me and Mrs Mango to go a-touring this summer without having to worry about scratching the bodywork or going for a Givi topbox style solution. Any ideas?

I've got Oxford Sports throw-overs and a Baglux tank cover and bag. The Oxfords are OK (if you pack your stuff in plastic bags to defeat the inevitable rain), but do not hold much. Baglux tank bag gets in the way a bit, especially if expanded, but works fine and you can move the position to gas up the bike quite easily.
Mango, you can have a look when your down this way, if you like.

Cheers, Peter. I've also got a Baglux tankbag for the Falco (I rate them very highly) and have had one for every bike I've owned for the last 20 years. We're planning to do some continental touring on the Bird this summer, so panniers will be a must.

Another good excuse for a meet-up and a ride-out when we're over!

Just hope the snow's gone by then! Anyone else fancy a meet avec les Falco's. Excellent wine for about 2 Euro's a litre? That reminds me......time for wine!

Well my renegade cans are now fitted and do look rather good - and fark me they do have a loud tone!

So ...
I have decided to split the set

Panniers 100
Tank bag 50
Tail Roll 75

All are in good condition though I have replaced a couple of broken rivets with tiny nuts and bolts on the tank bag - these cannot be seen

The panniers have the rain cover as does the tank bag

The tank bag does need the plug for the headstock which I believe is in stock in the uk and is a couple of quid - mine has been modded to have a harmin ball mount and may not come off cleanly!

Postage will be what it costs!

Pm me if you want anything

Payment by paypal or cash to bank account

By the way my blue flames are sold subject to confirmation

I'd be up for a French meet, we're looking at a French holiday already this year, no dates set yet.
