Grease

#1 Post by johnl » Wed Jan 31, 2007 8:40 pm

Doing a bit of maintenance and found a white grease on the rear of the brake pads. It was also on the spark plugs which were very easy to remove. I know its not marine grease, but it is really good stuff, anyone know what it maybe ??

White? Sounds like Lithium grease. Could be donkey spunk of course, but Lithium grease would be more likely.

I've got an aerosol of the stuff, but I'm away with work and can't remember anything about it, other than it's in a blue can :smt003 . I'll take a look at the weekend, assuming you haven't got an answer by then

Sounds like lithium grease commonly known as "white grease" :smt003

It's an excellent corrosion inhibitor and resists water penetration comes in aerosols or solid form great on washing machine bearings.
I use it on wheel spindles or as a general assembly grease, it has a high melting point but 1 wouldn't use it on brake pads or pins. :smt002

i've used this ceramic grease on my chain for a couple of years now and find it brilliant, you dont get any over your nice clean wheels or rear end.

Fastasfcuk - I'm interested in this application. How long does it last? Does it clean off? Does it look a mess on the chain ?

More details pleeease.....
