Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

OMG !!!

That was a thread on AF1 that I got bored with very quickly and didn't bother to look at after the first few posts - looks as though it kicked off big time. Strikes me as people not hearing what other people are actually saying - particularly that Born-to-fall-off chap .... but I dare say he's feeling a bit sensitive about the whole thing - so it's not surprising.

Ah well - at least you haven't had the moderators threatening to lock threads like I did the other month!

Forgive my ignorance but am I missing something here? What does he mean by :-

"No offence, but the Englanders should be more worried about being over run by the Moors than my insurance levels"

Whats a "moor" or am I being particularly thick (as usual)

It's clearly an anti-Muslem statement.

The Islam empire that spread into Spain was referred to as the Moors and a lot of the architecture in southern Spain (such as the Alhambra) is refeered to as Moorish Architecture.

Nice one, Aladinsaneuk. That little tosspot deserved a 'robust rebuttal' and I can state without fear of contradiction that he got one... :smt003

Can I refer you to Muphreys law Aladin. :smt002
for the record, I think you will find it is spelt "limey"
now, wether or not the law permits it - and HERE they do not, is beside the issue - what is the issue is that the rider has and will loose out

Muphrey's Law: a) if you write anything criticizing editing or proofreading, there will be a fault of some kind in what you have written; (b) if an author thanks you in a book for your editing or proofreading, there will be mistakes in the book; (c) the stronger the sentiment expressed in (a) and (b), the greater the fault. (d) any book devoted to editing or style will be internally inconsistent.

and why did he have to be such a knob? as I said, I was trying to qualify why some werer angered by his apparent lack of insurance....

I'm off down there on Sunday 28th for a couple of weeks, might even post up some "Moorish" photos when I get back!
Best winter bike roads on the planet, and I'll be in a bloody Fiesta hire car.
Still the inland roads out to Granada, the surrounding Sierra Nevadas and Ronda a bit further south are brilliant in anything, and almost empty at this time of year. :smt001
