electrical fault?!
Recently got 05 Falco after my Fireblade was flattened by a post office van!!!! The Falco is a great bike. However there seems to be a few problems that have developed. Whilst riding in heavy rain the other day the EFI light started to flash up where the temperature normally reads. This seems to have settled since it dried out. The other problem is the computer dash board seems to reset itself (as if battery disconnected) so I like set everything rev limiter kmh to mph etc and then three days later it reverts itself back.
Any ideas?
Also it came with blue flame end cans would these have come with a chip? Do i need a chip and if so which one?
Many thanks

Hi fella and welcome aboard.
I can answer the EFI warning in the wet thing. It's most likely the sensor getting wet. The sensor lives in the right hand air intake below the headlight (as you sit) and this is a common issue especially after washing the bike. I don't think it's anything to worry about and as you have discovered sorts itself out once it dries out.
The dash reset is I believe a known issue although I haven't had it happen. Do a search on this and the AF1 site coz I am sure it's been covered many times before.
Chips for cans. Well as far as I am concerned road legal cans don't need re chipping - especially if you leave the baffles in. Does it run alright? Then it's probably ok. A word of warning though - I guarantee that in the next few replies you will be recommended several 'upgraded' chips. Some people are never satisfied

Welcome ibicker,
My dash reset was caused by a weak battery... these things take some charge to turn the pistons over so the battery needs to be in tiptop condition. I keep my battery on the optimiser whenever not in use. Also make sure there are no corroded/loose connections at the battery terminanls.
I also have Blueflame cans (single port) with the stock chip. She does not run at her best though, a little too rich and pick up good probably be smoother. I am fitting a PCIII this winter and will then get a custom dyno map.

either do the wiring mod, or buy an optimate and use it religiously
I also have blue flame cans - but the pc3 sorted that out :)
(suggest that the af1 chip may be useful but pc3 is better solution.... after evo airbox etc :)
(we like to spend your money here....)

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

Hi and welcome to the most useful forum out there (especially for Falco owners!). My Falco only resets its dash after a stall, and only if I try to re-start the engine too quickly. If I leave it for a couple of seconds then restart, there are no problems. I run Motad Venom pipes with standard chips.
Enjoy your twin!
Peter

Welcome to the site ibicker
You've bought a great bike and quite a bit different from the Blade, hope you learn to love it like we all do.
As far as the cans go, you should be fine with baffes still in, I fitted a K&N kit with mine when I put my Beowulf cans on, which I reckon helps.
As for the dash reset, as others have already said, it is usually caused by a battery that's not at it's best. It takes a fair bit of power to turn over a big V/Twin, so keep it topped up with an Optimate or similar.

Thank Peter Yeah if I stall it and then turn it over straight away it does reset the dash!!!!!! Since you told me that its been full choke starts no stalling and no resets!!!!!!
