R+G crash bungs

Anyone fitted these and are they worth it for £190 for a full set?
I was very tempted at the NEC today but they offered no discount

,
so for the sake of postage costs I thought I would resist and seek the wisdom of the learned few.

Got a set of Beowulf radiator covers and a set of adaptors for the Abba stand though

.

No sign of official Aprilia stand which was a bit disapointing. Quite a boring show as it goes.

I've often thought I should .... but never been willing to spend that much on them .....

Maybe one day I'll regret it

I've got the lower bungs fitted, and they did a great job following a spill at a wet Cadwell track day'
Got away with a scuff to the bottom band on the new Beowulf Warriors, scratched the centre panel and bent brake levers.
Asked at the show if they did just the hard plastic bung, but you had to buy a half set to get it.
So being tight i'm still showing the war wound.

Debz has R&G bungs everywhere they'll fit on her Tuono (looks like a huge BMX now

) and on her Fazer but they seem to work well on the 'bike tipping over in slow motion gently lay it on the floor' moments.

Like Falken, I've just got the lower set - didn't want to chop the fairing for the upper set - one day, maybe. Not dropped it (since fitting, at least!) so can't comment on how good they are in a spill, the only thing I found is that, initially, they got in the way of my knees, especially when putting my foot on the floor - wind up do a John Wayne-esque leg movement to clear the bungs. You get use to it quite quickly though

Got the upper set fitted. Had the same on the last Falco and, when I hit the deck at some speed, they did a fantastic job!

Cost me £60 for a replacement bung, needed a new rear brake lever pedal and some hammerite for the bar end! Also had the advantage that I could continue my holiday (was in Germany at the time).

Value for money?

If you can wait, then hang about ebay in a dark alley, they sometimes pop up cheap. I have motrax lowers and r&g uppers and they took the brunt of an almost 200mph getoff with only a broken brake lever, scuffed bellpan and ground-down exhaust.

Although it did stay on tarmac and i've been told (and seen piccys) of bikes where the crash bobbins have dug in on grass and flipped them

Unless Bikejohnny havent updated for a while, theyre cheaper..Waaay cheaper.. thru them..

Like Debz I have the full set of R&G's fitted to the T (I even have some home made jobbies on each spindle as well)

I used the good old fleabay technique of waiting & bidding, waiting & bidding etc... etc... finally got both sets (uppers & lowers) still in their packaging for £50!!!!

The bigggest tip when fitting R&G's is following their tightening up regime.......you MUST follow their instructions and torque settings when fitting them or nasty things can happen to your frame

I just hope I never need them, but their worth has been proved time & time again so a good investment I reckon

Cheers for the feedback Guys. I think they are a good investment but I don't think they actualy, eerrrrr, enhance the looks much. I will keep any eye on Fleabay for the moment I think.

Sorry, should have said that that was for a full set, lowers uppers and fork protectors. If I decide to buy new I will certainly consider Bikerjohnny as his prices are the same as R+G although he dosn't list the fork protectors.
