Worst buy on Ebay when pissed?

#1 Post by Chabby » Tue Dec 02, 2008 7:21 pm

I know we've all done it.

In from the pub. Boot up the computer to check Ebay for bargains.

Before you know it you've ordered some crap you don't even want.

So whats your worst?

My unusual bargain was a fossilised minnow. I count myself lucky that I only paid £20.

My mate bought a £1500 Land Rover from someone 250 miles away....and it was shite.

Fossilised minnow for 20 dabs, even my genuine troy bayliss ducati lettered leathers werent as bad as that.

But I do have a garage full of worthless shit aswell as my bikes

I feel a drunken rant coming on (tuesday bike night complete with pasta and bolognase sauce with chips and several pints)

I bought a nice "genuine" black race visor for my old HJC a few years ago when very full of John Smiths and the obligatory Chicken Curry

When it arrived I reaslised I'd bought the wrong visor, contacted the seller, who agreed to take it back and send the right one out...

But he didn't...he kept my money and the visor and I paid for 2 lots of postage (doh!)

Beer & eBay are a very bad combination (Now if I see something I want I use auction sniper. That way I only bid what I think it's worth and don't get involved in any bidding wars

My worst was a set of 6 dessert spoons. My logic after a few JDs was that this item was massively undervalued and I was onto something that would make daytime TV shows Antiques Roadshow and Cash in the Attic proud.

I still have them... :smt011

I did something similar 4 1/2 years ago. Bid on this bike on eBay, it failed to reach the min but I was top bidder. Stupidly I contacted the seller and offered him something a bit nearer his min, he accepted and I bought it, been stuck with the bloody thing ever since, can't get rid of it.
The bike? It was an immaculate 3 year old SL1000 thingy with 6K on the clock and full history. Got it for £3k when normally fetching £4k plus at that time.
Don't think I'll ever be able to get rid of now, so unfortunately I am stuck with it.
