LED indicators ..... dont flash ?? ++ FIXED ++
installed x2 rear LED indicators with 8ohm/20 watt resistors inline.
When i switch the indicators on, they just come on and stay on...no flashing ??? any ideas what could cause this ?
The 2 standard front indicaors do the same with the rear LEDs installed .. its as if the bike thinks the 2 rears are blown .. how can i get around this ??
cheers

No you don't ..... you only need an electronic flasher if you don't use resistors to simulate the load of the bulbs. You certainly don't need LEDs all round/Gio wrote:I think you have to have leds all round or a master relay that deals with front and rear.
Alternatively wait for the experts
My guess is that the LED modules have their own in-built current limiting resistors and that you have wired the power resistors in series with the LED modules rather than in parallel with them - as such, there will be F-all current flowing through these resistors and they will not be simulating the normal bulbs.
Cheers D-Rider, could you explain what you mean by "in parallel". I have the resistors wired to each + wire going to each LED indicator ?????D-Rider wrote:No you don't ..... you only need an electronic flasher if you don't use resistors to simulate the load of the bulbs. Not sure how the LED module is wired internally but might just be that the battery is a bit low - try it while running the engine.sthomson1 wrote:OK, I bridged + and - of the indicator with the resistor, now, its flashing, but, only 3 LEDs are showing out of 18 !!!! take the resistor off, all LEDs come on and stay on !!!Aladinsaneuk wrote:put your resistor so it bridges + and - - that is in parrallel - what it does is add to the load
LED's
Looks like i was looking for problems when there wasn't any .. that's what I get for reading all the posts about LED's before i started.
Started the bike, hooked up the rear indicators (no resistors) .... work perfectly ... battery must have been low.
These LEDs must have resistors in them to sort out the flash ...
.. and their cheap as chips

for the front - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... :IT&ih=005
Thanks D-Rider.

Got all 4 working.Aladinsaneuk wrote:would that be old age causing the short term memory loss??
(mutters about comfortable saddles..... as he cackles away)
Just added a resistor to each side at the rear (25w/8ohm) ... sorted

Used black tape to cover the slot on the front fairing .. where the indicator mounts .. dont even notice it (on a black bike)
