Another Newbie
Just saying hello. I Have just bought a 2001 Falco in black and today it's raining, just my luck.
D-rider may know me from another forum, he is how I found this one, so thank you D-rider.
Just hoping for some dryer weather over the weekend to get to know the bike a little better.
Right off to find out how to use the clocks.

Welcome to the site mate.
Best bike, best colour and year!
What more can I say.
Had my identical version for 4 1/2 years and still love it to bits, best bike I've ever had.

Hope you enjoy yours as much.
Catch you later.

Hi Barry - glad you made it over to here .... 2 Falcos on Cov Bikers now .... where's my exclusivity gone - still it's a lot better than being part of the R1 / GPZ crowd
Cheers

Oh, BTW, get yerself up to the Virtual Bar and introduce yourself to the rest of the forum too ... besides we're all gasping for a drink

Cheers

..... but Pete, as you well know, the Bronze/Black ones are more black than the Black and Silver ones that you laughingly refer to as Black .... or have you painted your frame and swingarm?Aladinsaneuk wrote:welcome
what mods does it have or need?
how big is your credit rating?
and ignore the bronze riders - they are just upset they did not get an all black bike
As 'kiwi says, get some bronze paint and finish the job.

but our silver highlights are from the speed we travel at....
lets face it, that is why you grey beards have silver around the face :)
it is proven that the black ones are the fastest...

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

Cheers for the warm welcome guys.
Credit ratings OK but I now need one or two brownie points at home.
Its has the following mods, gilles variobars, ohlins rear shock, motad venom race cans, air box mod
(Ducati air box seal, ring any bells?) with race filter, de restricted ecu, bellypan.
I think I need to find a workshop manual as I couldn't work out how to remove the riders seat,
cheers Andy for the help.
I believe the black ones are quickest from what I have heard.

The ohlins is a good thing - I'll lend you my old original blue-spring sachs shock sometime so that you can feel just how lucky you are (anyone got a set of original MEZ3s so we can show him really how lucky he is to be on any other type of rubber?)
Air box mod sounds like an Eveluzione type of thing.
For the workshop manual, visit Martin Poll's website and download it (Martin is a forum member BTW) - there are other goodies to download too.

Yeah - the black ones are faster - it's because their riders need something extra to keep up with the riding prowess of the riders of the Bronze ones.
The Black ones and Red ones got air intakes with bigger apertures than the later bikes ... but we got better clutches and sidestand switches that don't break so easily.
Has yours got a modified sidestand? if not, that's the first thing to sort out before it falls over.
I'll have to have a look soon and see what else has been done and where else we can spend your money for you.
You may realise you've bought a great bike ... you may not yet realise that you've bought a never ending project .....
