Race RSV for sale (maybe to break?)

#1 Post by Pierre » Mon Jan 29, 2007 11:12 pm

Aprilia Mille - Proven Race/Track bike

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2001 Aprilia Mille RSV-R. Ex Don Plane (2006 New Era SoT Champ) Mille that has many podium finishes (an a few race wins) from 2002-2004 at Bemsee. Don rode her to a championship 3rd in the 2004 Supertwins.

The engine is totally sorted by Don and Andy at Southern Cross - 153 bhp on a one gear run (dyno readout) - very strong with 140 on the wheel.

2005 Manx Grand Prix finisher, 12th in the Newcomers 'A' with a fastest lap of 105mph. Other than that, just a few club rounds 2005/2006. Very fast bike and ultra reliable.

Never registred, but I have all the paperwork - so it can be put back on the road and registered as an 07! (it would need a road harness though)
Perfect for a Sound of Thunder type race series, track bike or a kick-ass street special.

All the ususal race bits:
Ohlins forks, shock and steering damper
Akrapovic 2 into 2 titanium (worth well over £1000 new)
Brembo brakes
OZ wheels
Aprilia slipper clutch
Rear-sets
Clip-ons
520 chain & sprocket
Race bodywork, screen etc.
Crash protectors
Recent oil, brake and chain change (less than 200 miles ago)
Spare wheels (standard Brembo)
New Battery

Needs new fork seals. The forks would need to be serviced anyway and Ohlins seals are less than a tenner.
The left hand engine casing is cracked. It has been welded up, but has started to weep again. This doesn't affect the performance or running of the engine in any way but will have to be seen to sooner or later - it's an engine out job and I just don't have the time or inclination.

£2250

You will not find better big Vee Twin race bike value!!

Lets say the engine is worth £600
Wheels tyres and discs £600
Ohlins forks £500
Ohlins shock £200
Spare standard wheels £200
Race bodywork £150
Akrapovic 2-2 £300
Swingarm £100
Frame with documents £400
Ohlins damper £100
Rest of smaller parts £200

Thats just pricing (ok maybe slightly high :smt002 )I've seen from watching on ebay and it comes to £3350 and the bikes £2250 or am I missing something here. I'd love to buy it to get the engine and sell the rest just to pay for that alone

A very nice bike. I knew it well. Very well looked after when Don owned it :smt001

If I had the money I'd be very tempted. Engine casing is a bit of a bummer tho' I'd be inclined to imagine
a. engine failure of a catastophic nature
b. it's been crashed hard.. what else got broke / bent / cracked

I'd deffo want answers and assurances..
