Question

#1 Post by Aladinsaneuk » Mon Oct 27, 2008 3:15 pm

how does one go about asking a question of the police?

as in, i keep reading where questions have been asked under the right to know or what ever, and the police have to reply with the correct figures etc?

just curious as I am planning some new devilment....

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

I mean freedom of information legislation .....

and i will need a hand producing a nice letter to be emailed to the local constabulary - which i think many others might be interested in also sending

bet that has a few inquiring minds pondering
:)

I think you pretty much answered your own question.

I would write to the Chief Constable copying in the local MP

Dear Sir

Under the freedom of information act, 2005, I am writing to request the following information:

(1)For the most recent years, since 2001, please specify how many fixed penalty tickets have been issued to Cars for breaking the legislative requirements for the Display of Registration Marks for Motor Vehicles, DVLA V796.

(2)For the most recent years, since 2001, please specify how many fixed penalty tickets have been issued to Motor Bikes for breaking the legislative requirements for the Display of Registration Marks for Motor Vehicles, DVLA V796.

****
that makes a point i believe....

Yeah - while you're at it, ask how many car drivers have had tickets for wearing dark visors compared to the number issued to bikers .... bet that one reveals huge discrimination :smt002

..... guessing you've been hassled over a plate that has somehow shrunk in the wash .....

Always address any letters of that nature to the Chief Constable of the force you are writing to. He/she will then pass it on to the relevant department. for example professional standards.

If you let me know what force you want to write to, I will give you the right names and address.
