may of overfilled oil

Checked the oil and as it was low I topped it up and it started to rise,I started the bike up let it run and rechecked it but it had gone back down to low so i put even more in and started the bike and now it looks as if its overfilled once its run for a while
What's the best thing to do and what is the right way of checking the black stuff as I hear its changed sinse my last falco when they first arrive upon these shores

As far as I know it has always been the same. When bike is at operating temp hold it upright (stand) and check the level right after stopping the engine.

If the overfill isn't to much I wouldn't worry, you prolly will find it in your airbox after a few rides...

If it does worry you, just take out some oil.

cheers when they first came along I am sure my manual stated to check cold then a amendment was issued but cannot remember what it stated I guess it must have been the same as your advise

Check after 20Km or 20 minutes running is wot the book says. I usually check when hot at first stop. Mine doesn't use much oil.

been riding it hard lately and using the engine braking a lot plus done around 2.5k in 3 weeks as toured the west coast of Scotland
Boy the road are well rubbish in kent after that trip

Manual and workshop manual explains the process ... and it's not so simple - it has to be done hot ..... have a look in the manuals (if you don't have them, they can be downloaded from Martin Poll's website - or the usermanual from the official aprilia website)

We might have the worst weather but once the sun comes out then the roads make it worthwhile putting up with.
Now hush about the roads, we like em quiet, not crowded with tourists.
