A new record

#1 Post by Aladinsaneuk » Mon Aug 25, 2008 8:07 pm

recently, a new member appeared here, and told us that he liked his bikes standard

even by our standards, this was quick

Nice work Pete. I may well be dipping my toe into the dark waters of modification, having always prefered standard bikes
welcome aboard PeteL - now, lets all sit down, and discuss your budget....

:smt082 :smt082 :smt082 It was noted!

New Falco Owner's Checklist;

[x] Falco
[x] Paypal Account
[x] Credit Card
[x] Debit Card
[x] Source of Income/ Rich Wife/Girlfriend/Boyfriend/ Understanding Bank Manager

I think that covers it? Maybe D-R should do a Newbie intro for the Falco forum?

very funny guys :smt002 Merely showing an appreciation of other peoples hard work and recognising that modification can be done in a tastefull manner.
For the record I've 3 kids under 5 = skint, sorry not true just found a 20p piece down the side of the couch when looking for my most recent copy of standard bikes monthly :smt065

Yeah I had 3 kids under 5 (they're a bit older now).
Fortunately we worked out what was causing it - not so fortunately, the wife then put a stop to it.

well -= i have a 14 month old son so I know how it feels....

many of our mods, I think, are cheap - or so worthwhile they have to be done

{brings out d riders list}

first - side stand - just do it - vtr, gixxer or yank flavour aprilia one - ebay is your friend!

second - rear shock - assorted options, white spring original mille is cheapest - just ensure it is in fair condition - not much wonga off ebay

third - just imagine..... :)

indicators, personal choices time - i prefer to be subtle with mine
led tail lights and clear/smoked rear lens.... hensteeth time
pc3/evo airboxes etc - probably an expensive luxury... but they are good
exhausts - ditch the stock cans- poor sound and damned heavy to boot - second hand set from 100 quid on fleabay - fuel pipes are cheapest to buy new though - renegade pipes are rarer!
hid headlight conversion - cheap at about 40 quid
wiring mod - cheap, some swear by it
optimate - some rate them
scottoiler - mixed thoughts, i rate mine, but i am cheap
tyres - personal choice time - but most here will give a good balanced view
handlebar alterations - can be expensive, though some cheapskates just move the bars above the triple yoke
double bubble screen - some like, some hate
two into one exhaust conversions... why? because i had too.....
oil tanks for above - don't get me started!
radiator covers - make your own for 15 quid....
bellypan - some like, some don't....

just a few thoughts :)

:smt119 hence the finances gag, even sounds expensive. Probably most likely to start with a functional mod, like the sidestant, already getting on my ti*s after a few days. I guess thats when I flail frantically, finding no grip in desperately worn shoes, on the slippery slop to fully fledged modsville.
Which sidestant will do the job best...oh....and look ok? :smt003

Before long you'll be just like the rest of us - claiming all sorts of things are "functional" just to give the required level of justification and credibility :smt020

Hi Pete, this is the link that D-Rider sent me when I asked the same question:

http://www.apriliaforum.com/forums/show ... hp?t=71492

That thread is full of information (and pictures). I'm trying it with a K7/K8 GSXR1000 stand (which is of all cast construction), but most people have used the K1/K2/K3/K4 stands I think.

Anyone tried the 'new design' aprilia stand on e-bay?

Seem to remember someone did but the welding failed or something (could have been a one off problem - or even me remembering wrong ....)

This was my reply to the same question a couple of months ago, I have one fitted on my Falco -

https://www.ridersite.com/viewtopic.ph ... ght=#29023

Only got a couple of photos, one with the original stand and one with the new one off ebay.
As stated in the thread it does stick out a bit when folded up, but could easily be modded by grinding off the stop a bit, but I aint got around to trying it yet!
Somebody on here certainly had a problem with the welding, but not found the post yet.
Have checked the welding on mine and it looks OK, and it's still working fine.
