Classic insurance

#1 Post by FlyingKiwi » Tue Aug 19, 2008 3:58 pm

Hi all,
Chap at work asked me who was good for insurance and in discussing this I learned the bike in question is a 1986 Yammy. I believe he could get Classic insurance on this so anyone got any recommendations,
cheers,
FK

I insured my 400/4 with Footman James and had my Falco as a second bike on the Classic policy (quite above board).
That was great when I started riding after a few years off and having no NCD.

Trouble with a Classic policy is that it doesn't offer any no claims - so when it was time to renew I took my couple of year's riding onto a policy that did give me a discount.

Carol Nash start Classic policies at 12 years old. I have a joint Standard/Classic policy for the Falco and my 1995 CBR100F, prices seems fine to me.
Was previously on a simple 2 bike policy.

Caz Nash have been my choice of insurer for the last 7 years. Ive recently had to make a claim and must say that although their cover is good, the add ons such as euro cover and recovery are good..AND the prices they manage to get on policies are good, they were absofuckinglutely crap at sorting out my very straightforward claim on a total loss theft (got the moped back and it was a total wreck)

They consistently didnt know what was going on or where the claim was at the times I phoned, failed to pass on important info to the insurers (and me) and dragged their feet more than a chav in a shopping centre. Ive constantly had to chase them to sort stuff out and resorted to dealing direct with the insurance underwriters to sort everything out quickly and efficiently... something CN were supposed to do.

The insurers did pay out eventually but no thanks to Caz Nash.

I have reinsured with them as they still offer a good overall package, but next time if I need to claim (hopefully not) I will deal direct with the insurers and fuck CN off.

Interesting comments, and well worth knowing.
Fact is with most companies like this, they are just the agents, and so when making a claim, it is often better to talk direct to the actual insurance company.
Any broker or agent will do the job, but they never have quite the incentive to get things sorted that you do!
