I had my tank replaced under warranty (less than 2 yrs old).
The lacquer was peeling from the the edge of the black stripes.
Mind you, it is a fast bronze one, friction and all :smt002

sure it wasn't rust?

Let's face it, you wouldn't go to a nurse to get good advice on a problem with a Falco - you'd choose an Engineer or a mechanic...

Yes I posted a response to someone last week. I stuck some duct tape around the near end of the tank to protect it from rubbing straps and zips on my tour last month. When I took the tape off it brought some lacquer off too. Not really noticeable but i need to do something to stop it getting worse. :smt013

Clear tank protector I think.

Same happened to mine, a bit of the lacquer chipped off so i rubbed down the area to get off all the loose bits filled it up with some clear coat then used this 'mer scratch fixing kit' thing i found in my garage (had it for years) and now i honestly can't see where the repair was made. Took some guts though, as i was sanding down the lacquer to get the finish right i was praying let this all polish out when i use the cutting compound. It did and i'm well happy with the result :-)

I have 2x2 mm blister on the side of the tank (stone chip?). Otherwise I have to say the paint is flawless. Best off all the bikes I've seen. Must differ from bike to bike... :smt017

That's pretty bad there Mrapriliafalco but looking at that black lower fairing piece it looks to have been dropped in that area. Could that have caused it?

Other than a respray I have no useful repair ideas I'm afraid.
