Best Laid Plans

#1 Post by EdinburghFalco » Sat Aug 02, 2008 12:31 pm

Well as our national bard around here says "The best laid schemes o' mice an' men/Gang aft agley."
Got kitted up and went out to the beast this morning to go to Glasgow for my "experience aprilia" test rides and she wouldn't start, not even by jump starting down several steep hills. Gutted!
I am hoping its the battery, just didn't seem to be the power for the engine to start, I have only been out on her once for a short run since returning from holiday so the battery probably didn't have much juice, I have got it on the charger now, fingers crossed!
(If I was the suspicious type I might be casting an eye at the wife, she was pretty instant last night I was not to come back with a new bike! mmm)

Bikes have a habit of killing themselves at the slightest sign of 'being traded in'

My Z440 shat it's cams when I was travelling down to look at a VFR400

My VFR400 ate it's electrics when I was getting set to go look at the Triumph.

5 hours on a charger and she started first time. A bout of petulance I think, it is Italian after all :smt012

I couldn't make it through for the time I had booked taking the biscuit box, so I missed out on the whole thing. :smt009

Actually I am very happy with the Falco, just fancied a ride on the Tuono and Shiver and also wanted to see if the Mana would be a serious option if the arthritis in my left hand gets worse.
The guy over at Avuss Superbikes in Paisley said they have all three bikes in their own stock so I want a test on them just to phone next time I am going over to the Est coast. If you are ever near Paisley they are worth a look just to see so many great bikes under one roof, last time I was there they about 6 KTM RC8 lined up, Super Dukes, Ducati 1098R, Bimota as well as all the Aprilia tackle, I was like a kid in a sweet shop :smt007
