One dead in Snetterton three-bike track day crash

#1 Post by Samray » Sat Aug 02, 2008 1:03 am

The three riders crashed just before the pits at 0940 BST as advanced riders were about to start their last lap.

Condolences to the family of the rider. A sad sad occurrence

On a more unsympathetic tack,

That corner (russell bend) is a right twat if you get it wrong, cold side of the tyre, hard braking, tight turn that pushes you right out to the edge of the track... I'd bet my last quid it happened just coming onto the last 'straight' as opposed to just by the pit wall.

According to someone on TRC (the EDP link shows novice)
It wasnt a novice group, wrongly reported, it was an advanced group. They were running two advanced groups because of the racing over the weekend
Hottrax are running 1000cc and 600cc trophy solo races this at Snetterton on 1st and 2nd August.

These will be two long distance solo races (20 and 22 laps) to open class specifications with trophies to the top 3 in each class for each race.

Both classes get practice, qualifying and 1 race on Saturday with warmup and 1 race on Sunday morning before the 6 hour Endurance race starts. That means you can still be home for tea on Sunday evening.

Cost is £145 for all of this, fantastic value.

Call us on 01908 561198 or enter online

See you there if you can handle it!

Yes condolences to all concerned.

Just what I don't really need to hear before going on that track for the 1st time :smt012

Gio, youve seem the Bemsee racing there as much as I have. It's always the worst bit of that circuit, (the first corner tends to just be grasstracking from too many bikes in one gridsqare of tarmac) and Russells beats the bombhole hands down for 'proper' offs.
It's more lowspeed slamming of bikes n bods onto the deck, usually leaving them right in harm's way and the rest of the pack.. which is when the pain starts...

Youll be fine... just dont fekkin fall off at Russell's :smt002

Im not helping much am I... :smt002

Im not too chuffed with the descriptive way that the news have been saying the word 'racing' so much. It's not racing.. :smt018

I'll be fine, I had Witty always telling me about how weird it felt every lap, just take it slow and easy and there's no scares :smt003

I'm looking forward to the bombhole tho I've never seen it :smt005

Then there is of course the 40 winks snooze down Rivett to refresh my jaded brain after Russells.

BTW I'll be on a Falco, must see if I can fit the camera back on it.
