Picked up my Falco today

#1 Post by mrapriliafalco » Sun Jul 27, 2008 9:58 pm

Ah so good to be back
I bought a used Falco today,I sold mine for a Blade because the wife hated it.
I had the previous one for nearly 4 years and had the blade for about 3 and I can honestly say that within 10 miles on her I was at ease far more than I ever was with that Jap thing.
I am so glad to be back

They did not want older stock :smt005

The bike runs really well but the previous owners seems to have serviced it himself so I guess I should get it serviced,as its done 25000 I presume its gonna be a big one.
Oh and the side stand has the bracket missing( £80 think I will be fixing myself lol)

Don't fix it, chuck it away. Do a search on sidestand, you'll know what I mean. Most probably your bike had a 'tilter' fitted, now gone. Get a US spec sidestand, gixxer, vfr, whatever apart from stock cr@p.

Welcome! :smt006

Let me help on this one.
In the days before people started fitting Firestorm and Gixxer stands to Falcos, there were two modified brackets that could be fitted to change the angle of "Tilt" of the side stand. Both versions just made it stick out further so the bike leaned over more.
One was made by Renegade.
The other, probably better unit, got labelled the Perky's Tilter, (or something like that).
They both gave the stand a better angle, but did nothing for the fact the Falco stand itself was a bit weak and wobbly, but they were much better than nothing at all.
Not many people bother with these now but there are still a few around and they also sometimes crop up on Fleabay.
I've got a Rene unit in the garage somewhere, which I paid 20 quid or so for on eBay, but then decided it was better to change the stand.
I also could not work out how to make it fit with the Skidmarx belly pan I have fitted.

Welcome and enjoy the informal chat and wealth of knowledge that is available. (The knowledge is not from me I hasten to add)
I have recently sold my VFR and do not regret acquiring the Falco. It is truly a great machine but then I am preaching to the converted I guess.

Cheers,

Blue.
