Does your LHS casing get oily/grimy?

#1 Post by hornetrider » Tue Jul 22, 2008 4:59 pm

Or is it just mine?

It's not dropping any oil and the oil level doesn't seem to be dropping, but every five hundred miles or so I need to wipe off a thin film of oil from the engine casing which seems to appear.

Thoughts?

Ah ok. Excuse numptiness, is that one of the three rubber hoses grouped together? Do "they all do that" then?

Those three hoses are drains nd breathers for the tank and the plate below the battery box/back of the tank. They're not the culprits.

The one Nooj and I mean is the fat hose on the lhs rear of the underside of the airbox. It's the engine breather. lift the tank and you'll see it straight away.

Mine does that too. I don't think it's from the breather, although it is very hard to locate the source as it's a really tiny amount of oil (just a thin film, like after you sprayed WD40 on the engine case). It worries me intermittently. Not enough to investigate it further, though. :smt003

Mine does it too. I'm happy with the oil breather pipe explanation.
