Just going back to the sigs part of this multi-direction thread.
I have had one request for no sigs.

If there are no objections to the contrary then sigs will be turned off, reappearing on a Saturday, going off again on the Sunday. This will allow the work surfers to see the board in a worksafe way during the office working week, The Sig Pic whores can have Saturday to fluff up their plumage and show off, Sunday is a day of rest (For me) so Sigs'd be off again then.

Any objections? Speak up. I know yer all out there.... :smt002

May I point to the earlier bit of this thread as to sizings... :smt002

It'd be a shame cos it's a compromise that doesn't really satisfy either camp.
Probably worth reiterating that it was a temporary solution till we have the option to switch em off in profile?
In spite of the cost of living, it's still popular.

Yup, indeed. Hammy is a very busy Hamster however, so when this luxurious option will be available is anyone's guess. Ive seen his things to do list for here and it isnt small. Sadly his available time for admin work isnt very big.

The only other option is for sig pics to be limited as I have with mine, to about an avatar size..

Like ive said before though. It's all open to discussion..

Fine by me (I did point out somewhere that if sigs are left on then limit the size to no more than 100x100)

I'm starting to lean towards the NO SIGS side of things. Just look at Gio's last post. What with the quote and the sig it takes up 50% of my screen and is really only a one liner.
Dunno about you lot but most of the time I am looking at the Aprilia/ Rider site for information as opposed to just chatting. I preferred the way things looked on ARS as we didn't seem to have big image sigs on that.
Any one else?

And should we start this thread again with an appropriate title ?

I quite like sigs but althiough I currently have a (very small) picture I prefer the 'personal statement' kinda thing.

Big picture sigs are a bit irritating.

I don't suppose it's possible to have them in Chat but not on technical forums so I think the Aprilia riders will have to go along with the majority.

One request for no sigs doesn't seem like an overwhelming majority!

It was the only request either way, so it was/is the majority.

I'd much rather have a bigger avatar than sig this poxy 60x60 is pathetic.

So my vote now is

No sigs

Bigger avatar (90x90 or 100x100)

Funny that.. the settings show 80 x 80
Displays a small graphic image below your details in posts. Only one image can be displayed at a time, its width can be no greater than 80 pixels, the height no greater than 80 pixels, and the file size no more than 9 KB.

Which'd explain why other people's avatars are larger than yours...? Maybe reduce your file size (dumb down the quality of your image, Gio) will enable you to post it at the ful 80 x 80 size. You know all this already from the previous 4 RiderSite versions.

Avatars will not change in size

I will turn off sigs at the end of the week unless there is a mass raising of hands for keeping them. Im not going to run a poll, general show of hands will do.

Im for sigs by the way.

I'd not be for sigs if it looked like yours.

Guess I kinda started this debate... :smt066
If its the content that is a problem, as Ive stated before; Let me know and I will remove anything that offends.
The sigs can contain ANYTHING under the Sun and dont have to be 'sexy'; Bikes/cars/films/bands/etc are all 'do-able' as long as there is a picture to use! :smt003
If its the size that is a problem, then I guess no sigs is the way forward. The size I have so far used, (600x100), is quite small by a lot of sites standards and its quite difficult to fit a picture and name into anything much smaller tbh.
When I produce a sig it takes up quite a bit of time and effort on my part and the last thing I want to do is offend or upset anyone with the result.
Why not just have the site all text...
...and in black and white... :smt002
Two is the magic number... ;)

Hmmm, if you've got time to be browsing while you're at work, you're not working hard enough! :smt018

j/k - just jealous cos I don't get web access any more :smt010

Personally, I think that sigs are a personal expression, and so long as they're not tasteless, or likely to offend anyone (including the corporate firewall!), I don't see any reason to remove them. Some sort of size limit would sort any download issues. But don't they get cached, and shown from the cache each time rather than re-downloading each time you access a post with a particular sig in it?

Anyway, +1 for keeping them :smt023
