Whilst on the subject of politicians, ...................

#1 Post by HowardQ » Mon Jun 02, 2008 9:52 pm

Whilst on the subject of politicians, I could never have been described as Boris's biggest fan, but his stance on bikers in London bus lanes has been a very pleasant surprise. He has evidently told them to get on with it and sort it quickly. Even done this after he was voted in, a politician keeping a promise to bikers, what next, free road tax for all 60 degree V/Twins? :smt004
The evidence was all there for Ken, but he chose to completely ignore it/lie about it.
Let's hope it rolls out quickly in London and all cities, as too many new bikers are being killed and injured when they start to commute in heavy traffic, with no real experience and still feel they are as safe as in their cars. Then again there are the young scooter kids with no fear at all and often no protective clothing. :smt009

I'm not sure I'll like the idea of competing for space with pedal cyclists, they tend to wander all over the bus lanes.

They're not making the use of bus lanes compulsory! ... it just opens up the options (but not for weaving in and out across the solid white line).
