Firestorm stand fitted....

#1 Post by hornetrider » Sat Apr 12, 2008 11:39 am

...seems a little flexy. Anyone got one care to comment?

I bought this one:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... :IT&ih=002

Only seems a little longer than the standard Falco stand. Are there different ones?

Cheers :smt001

Does it kick out any further? How about some pics of it on the bike?

That looks just like my one. I seem to recall thinking the same as you in that it seemed rather flexy but it has given me no reason for concern for well over a year now.

Still not perfect I suppose but way way better than before :smt003

I fitted a firestorm job recently my falco has been raised a little with a RSV shock and I'm pleased with the results. :smt001
Yes there is some flex but nothing to worry about I'm sure.
My stand came with the Firestorm switch I have fitted it as is and the stand light works but no cut out when gear engaged :smt017 I haven't had time to investigated why but its a simple matter to fit the aprilia switch anyhow not bothered just yet to bloody cold to sit in the garage. :smt012

maybe but i couldn,t bring myself to put a gixer part on my Aprilia!
its a bit like having a blood transfusion from a pedophile, I know it works I just couldn,t do it!

Cheers for feedback folks. For me anyway the stand sticks out a little more than normal but not as much as I thought it would. I have a Falco Ohlins which raises the height a little at the rear so the bike does lean a fair bit! That in conjunction with a little bit of flex still doesn't give 100% confidence, but as has been said, is an improvement. On a positive note the "foot" of the stand is further away from the bike, whereas the falco "foot" is towards the bike if you see what I mean so it increases the footprint that way.

I think the ultimate solution would be a longer stand again in combination with a perky's (which is gathering dust in my toolbox for now)
