Falco sidestand

hi guys

Just joined this site. looks good. I have a question about the Falco side stand. Apprarently the OEM items are crap. So, the guy who owned my bike before me has fitted an unknown item with switch to my scoot. Works ok....sometime wont let me start the bike though. Anyway, got a Pikfee belly pan cheap....but it wont fit because of the modified sidestand and switch. So, can anyone advise me about an after-market/alternative stand setup that will fit with the Pikfee belly pan? Or, alternatively, can anyone tell me how to disable the side stand swtch? I would really like to have everything working as it should but also love the look of the Pikfee belly pan.

Welcome to the site!

There's a thread here for disabling the switch, and some other bits about changing the sidestand etc. Pics of the switch connector are about half way down the page

Can't help with the bellypan bit, but there are a few people on here with the Pikfee one so someone should be able to help

Thanx....will try the cable disconnect....but being a bit of a nerd, i would like eveything to work so I will look for an alternative sidestand to my alternative side stand.....

I've got one of Pikfee's belly pans and the GSXR stand. No problems here.

I've used the normal kicker plate and one of the others with more of an angle without any issues.

Hi Dr Ridin,

Hopefully Falcopops will answer you - he's got a pifkee BP and I'm fairly sure he swapped his sidestand.
What's more, he's in your timezone (though not that close) as he's just moved out to Melbourne - took his Falco with him

Just seen a few of those on fleabay meself, having bought a Firestorm stand 2 weeks ago! Ah well! I might ask him for some measurements/pics fitted

Just to pass on my experience with the Honda VFR side stand i fitted some weeks ago. The stand has now been adapted to take the aprilia switch although the Honda switch did bring on the stand light on it did not cut out the ignition when a gear was selected potentially bad. Anyhow all is well with the falco switch.
I was a little concerned the Honda stand was flexing and this proved to be potentially bending. I concluded this was because the stand was a angled to far forward due to the aprilia bracket stop it was not designed for. I considered building the stop with weld but in the end I found a stainless allen bolt that fitted into the slot below the stand bolt perfectly positioned the allen head to serve as a stop for the stand. The side stand is no a lot more upright and no more flex. the bike now sites at a perfect angle and is rock solid with no stand flex perfect.

Hmm, still got the Firestorm stand on my one but doesn't fit as well as yours seems to. The stand rotates too far forward and the stand itself seems to have a bit of play, tried shoving a washer in between stand and bracket but it was too thick and made the stand too hard to flick up and down afterward. Did you have to make any adjustments to yours it did it just go on like that?

Hi Big-AL, if you look at the first picture you can just see a small stainless steel allen head bolt head against the stand stop i inserted it in the slot under the stand center fixing bolt its just glued in place with some epoxy glue. all it does is stop the stand from moving to far forward against the stop. You could put a blob of weld here but my idea was just simple and fuss free and it worked. As for the stand being to sloppy could a big hammer on the stand slot do it? if not fit a thin spring washer maybe

mine was fine needing no further work.
