Worn gear change linkage.

#1 Post by RichardA » Thu Jan 18, 2007 1:17 pm

Hi guys,

Having now completed nearly 18000 miles on my 05 super sexy Rosso Red (Red's definitely best) Falco the gearchange linkage and bush is well sha--ed.

Has anybody come up with a better replacement? I've noticed that some bikes (Honda I think) have similar spherical joints but with nice little rubber boots to keep the crap out. Anybody tried these ?

If you go to an engineering suppliers they should be able to get you a pair of replacements (you need a laft hand and a right hand thread, one of each). I recently got one for the Missus' Fazer, it was about £8 and has a grease nipple on it. The rubber boots you may be able to get from a bike shop, I know Yam use them as well.

or do what I did, chuck the whole lot away and fit an RSV lever direct on the shaft and get cheap race shift 1 up 5 down(the RSV g'box is the other way round), I wouldn't go back to normal road shift now.

Hi Loafersmate,
How's the bike these days, got it all sorted?
Detoured through your village two or three times last year on way back from Willingham and then turned back up through Gringley.
Never saw a Falco though, just an interesting sidecar unit parked up on the main road.

Just waiting for a renegade air kit to arrive then it's off to Dynomax in Lincoln for a PC3 set-up :smt004

the village pub (you rode past it on the gringley road) has changed hands and the new landlord is a biker and will be having bike meets there in the better weather....at his last pub they had over 500 bikes there one evening :smt003 :smt003

Off to CMC chesterfield tomorrow to testride a R1100RT...............................................................................for my dad! s'pose it's still a twin. He's getting it as were off to Assen MotoGP along with my sister (SV650) and my mate on another SV so we'll be well twinned up!

As for that chair, i think it has been upside down as it is all bashed up and the screen smashed up!!
