Got it!
After being like a kid looking forward to Chistmas all week, driving wife and daughter mad I picked up the falco today. I thought my Honda was good but the falco, where to begin?
The sound from the Leo vinces is awesome, i usually wear earplugs but went without today just to revel in the noise. Driving down the A15 toward Lincoln I was overtaken by another --------Falco! Common as muck.
the gearbox is loverly the brakes are as good as the Honda, but it has got `blade brakes anyway, torque is a bit down, but then it revs to 11K!!, Hondas thrown a rod by then.
Finish is sublime and its fitted with Sportec M1s as standard. the bike has done 1700 miles from new and is like new, i dont think the toolkits ever been opened. I think it`s a keeper.

I don't understand this line though. Torque of what is down from what?

Glad you like it mate, you can enjoy a Falco in any colour.
It gets even better as you start to bond with it more over the first few weeks, just watch out for the fast black ones!

Difficult thing to compare really, V Twin torque and big old style IL4 torque.scorpio24v wrote:Sorry, torque is down on the CB1300.the gearbox is loverly the brakes are as good as the Honda, but it has got `blade brakes anyway, torque is a bit down, but then it revs to 11K!!, Hondas thrown a rod by then.
I have an old CBR1000 and it has loads of torque at low revs. This means it will pull well from really low revs, slightly lower, but smoother than the Falco, so just tend to quick shift up to 6th. I've always liked the CB1300 and imagined the engine would feel a lot like the CBR1000, pulling well all through the range. The Falco is nothing like the same, mainly because it is so high geared as standard, so you certainly never quick shift all the way to 6th at lowish speeds, but you can just keep it in 4th on a good fast road if you feel lazy! What you get with the Falco is a big hit of torque low down, which becomes addictive. You even get to love the jack hammer torque you get when revs are really too low, as part of the character of the bike. How many bikes can chug like a Harley at these low revs, then go all the way out to almost 11k, my old CBR won't even go that high.
Some people who come from IL4s just can't get on with the V Twin delivery low down, others like me, get to absolutely love it. I've ridden all types of bikes and always had a Hondas over last 7 years and numerous others before that, but all were boring compared to the Falco, which I find even more exciting than the old Kwack and Suzi 2 stroke triples I had years ago. Had it goin on 4 years now, and it stll amazes me each time I ride it hard.
Best bike I've ever had, will never get rid of it, whilst I can still ride.

Hope you get to enjoy yours anything like as much.

it certainley feels different to the inl4`s and the triples i`ve had before. but thats why i wanted one. i`m looking forward to learning a new style, while maintaing the present one. The Honda is also great to ride with all that 86 LB/Ft of torque available at 6K revs.
after 2 Laverdas, and the corresponding reliability issues, i never thought i would get another Italian, but they are just so soulful and stylish.
I only wish i could stop sounding the horn when i want to change direction

OK so I have never ridden either a CB1000 or CB1300 but I doubt they feel similar at lower revs. If the CB1300 is anything like my Bandit 1200 there is just loads of shove from right down there and short shifting is a delight just as on the Falco. I think I just prefer the way the Falco delivers that grunt - I don't think it necessarily has any more of it.

On a Dyno the CB1300 would win on torque, Falco would win on power, but only just, after all its giving 300cc away. on the road, because the Honda is 225Kgs and has the aerodynamics of a brick, the Falco would cream it. But hey, so what, their still the most fun you can have with your clothes on
