Saw race one and two today.

Absolute carnage on the grid, same later under the red flag and the Emperor unseated in both races.

Quality! :smt002

If you havent seen it yet, DONT BLAME ME! I waited til now to comment..

Bike nearly landed on him from great height the second time. That would have really given him something to whine about.

Yeah - they'll save a bit on freight costs shipping the remaining bikes on to the next round

The beloved Emperor was mightily lucky. Watching the replay, even allowing for Camera angle he was pretty close to checking his tyre pressures using his noggin and not a pressure gauge.

One lucky Roman.

The start line incident definately saved on shipping space and on Fabrizio's baggage allowance.. only one boot to pack.. :smt002

Does make you wonder how with all the technology poured into modern bike gear, how he managed to lose his boot in the accident

I was standing at the end of Turn one for the second race.

There was this massive, awful screeching / scraping sound and I turned in time to see Max's bike doing it's leap into the gravel. Pretty damned impressive, even from a couple of hundred yards away.

I'll try to get some photos uploaded soon.
It's the V-twin thing. There's just something about it that inline-4s don't have at all, and V-4s don't have enough of.

Due to me getting my times off by about 4 hours i watched it streamed from t'tinternet. Not bad and they dont charge like motogp do, nice one but then they go and write a sterile review of the race like its gone through 10 legal divisions and theres no mention of the startline carnage and other high speed crashes.

Its supposed to be exiting and everyone knows its dangerous. Missing details out of the report just makes you look a soft spineless shite incase you lose revenue.

ANYWAY ,as for the races, wtf is up with nori. If he doesnt win this year he better hope aprilia give him a v4 next year or he'll never get the no.1 plate :smt002

My thoughts exactly with reference to Nori.

Im gutted he's been lacking of late. I personally just put it down to the machinery.

He deserves an Aprilia ride again. If ever a man suited a racing Aprilia, it's The Samurai of Slide.

Yeh but did you see the accelleration on that right boot, not sure what height it finally achieved. How the hell did it come off that quick and go so high without taking his foot off. :smt017 One lucky bloke!
As for Max, yeh he was a bit lucky as well!

Cant decide if that was his boot. Ive watched it time and time again and I think it was either part of the front mudguard or part of the fairing. :smt017 Im sure that'd be a physical impossibility to send his boot up that fast and high without ripping his foot off at the ankle.

From Motorsportvision:
The impact shattered Fabrizio's boot, but he was able to make the restart on his spare bike.

From Heraldsun.com.au:
Fabrizio's right boot was torn from his foot and tossed 12 metres in the air during the incident and the rear tyre ripped from its wheel.

From theage.com.au:
then slammed into by Kawasaki rider Vittorio Iannuzzo, the impact ripping off Fabrizio's left boot which was thrown about 10 metres in the air, and tearing off his back tyre. Iannuzzo hit the ground and slid to a stop just a couple of metres ahead of his accidental victim, and was left pinned to the ground beneath his battered ride

Hmm ok then, maybe it did!!!!

I've kept watching it, there was absolutely no sign of the boot anywhere else. So it had to be the high speed object the flew up to the right. :smt017

I know when people have accidents that the extremities can shrink ..summat to do with the shock of it all.. Cant remember the exact stuff about it, but I do remember it from when a lad was killed when I was at school. RD350 thru the front of a Bus in a nearby village. His Doc Martens came off in the crash, so I guess it is fully possible.

How the hell he managed to get out for the restart is amazing! He mustve been on the edge of a heart attack!

Theyre all mad and I never want to go on a rideout with any of them!

You're right Kwacks, they're all feckin mad really. My oldest biking mate's son is a mate of Karl Harris. Karl never usually has a road bike of his own, although he has some off road stuff. He does occasionally "borrow" a demo bike from Cusworths Honda dealers at Doncaster. Once tried staying with him for a while, (he was on a CBR6RR), when out in a small group, not bloody prayer, he was gone in no time, and he reckons he never pushes it very hard on the road!
